I have finally come up with hopefully a solution to people who want to play with a small group of friends who do not want to or have the time to join a bigger unit.

Allow groups of 4 to enter the group que, and let the matchmaker create matches from all the groups of 4 it finds in the que and matches them together. 4/4/4. The groups will consist of 1 light, 1 medium, 1 heavy, and 1 assault. This way you will get 3 of each weight class in the match, so the matches will be very balanced.

Believe it or not, casual players want to play mechwarrior. They want to spend money. Some of my RL friends already have a few hero mechs, they just dont play anymore. Why not? Because they cant casually drop with friends, after the third loss of getting destroyed by a 12 man in the group que and posting very low damage, they give up and leave to play other games.

This is my suggestion. Please Russ, PGI, consider this please. It will help getting new players into this game, who may turn from casual to competitive, and hopefully give more $$$ for the game and the team at PGI.

I think the group queue might benefit from having an even number restriction on it; i.e. groups of 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12. Then naturally, try to group large groups with other large groups and smaller groups with other smaller groups.

That way, groups of any size can play and those with an odd number of players only need to find one additional player to group up with...there's always people on TS looking for a group.

It may not be optimal situation for odd-sized groups, but it's a good compromise that would allow for shorter wait times and more balanced matches. Might be worth trying out, if odd-sized groups wouldn't take too much umbrage to the idea.

You're not getting "smashed" by 12 mans as often as you think you are. The reason there "appears" to be many of them is because your brain remembers unpleasant occurrences more vividly than normal business, whereas an average match will simply fade from your memory because it wasn't anything out of the ordinary. So, after you've forgotten about all of the normal matches, only the unpleasant ones remain in your memory, therefore leading to the belief that you're constantly encountering 12 mans when you're really not.

The technical term for this phenomenon is "confirmation bias." Evidence that confirms the belief is remembered and focused on heavily, while evidence that contradicts the belief tends to get overlooked/ignored.

Reducing the presence of Lights further does not help the game (in the public queues).

Ironically, they have had more impact in CW, but that's besides the point.

Sorry dude, you don't fight 12mans that often.

First off, if you're a "casual" player, your Elo isn't going to be at that high rank. It just isn't.

Secondly, 12mans make up about 1% of the entire player population. It's simply mathematically impossible to face off against them as commonly as some like to think they do.
