I assume these numbers are only for those in match? but then I would expect these numbers to drop by 12 ppl on each side whenever a match kicks off, and that doesn't seem to happen... so hence my question...


Do The Att / Def Numbers Reflect People In Match Or Just Lobby?

Their a counter of whoever is on planet, whether waiting in the queue for a lobby, the 10min countdown for turret boredom, or in a match. It's a total count of the respective bodies currently on that planet... so if you see 12 attackers, but only 8 defenders, you know the attackers are waiting on warm bodied defenders or it will be turrets.

SO if you sit in attack Q for 10 minutes with just a single player on each side it will launch a 1 man game at 10 minutes? Do you get money and xp for shooting turrets? lol...I have wanted to test this theory, but dont feel like sitting there for 10 minutes.

I'm pretty sure you'd still need the minimum 12 people for MM to start the 10 minute countdown.
If you ever get 12 people matched with you (it'll switch from «pilots awaiting orders» to showing their names and mechs) you'll notice that the timer in the top right starts counting down from 10 minutes. If within that time an enemy team comprising of 12 mechs cannot be formed, you'll drop against AI turrets only.
