Videogames are hard.

The ones that aren't bound to consoles or F2P.

I always ask myself how anyone could possible achieve 19k posts, but if all your postings are this short of content, It's not a miracle.

I only have 13k.
You're thinking of Joseph Mallan, who has 28k posts.

Long posts.

i agree that this could work,
player generater content could help out allot,
but PGi really needs to think it through,

Why?
because if they give it out with out some stipulations,
suddenly they are swamped with 10k-300k submissions a day,
we all feel that perhaps some things need to change,
but little things could over load them,

if they have to spend a week going through submissions to find one they like,
thats a week they just spent not developing MWO, so they need a system to stop needless submissions,

You're overestimating MWO's popularity by several orders of magnitude.

The profit?

- More maps (which we really, really need, no more chassis please)
- A great connection between PGI and the community
- A feeling that you made a part of this game.

So how many modern F2P games allow player made content?

At least one. Landmark. Actually that is their business model. www.landmarkthegame.com

In the time that the players coded and put out MW:LL, they had more maps than MWO that really worked. AND had tanks, artillery, battlearmors, aerospace and VTOL s.

Lol, ikr? And their maps are atleast 4x the size of MWO's biggest map, complete with a working in game repair/rearm bay, lots of objectives and working gun turrets. Didnt they use the same engine?

Lol, if you really think the engine is the reason for the state of the game...

My point is MWLL did all that in their game using the same engine as PGI on MWO....why the such vast difference in the outcome...

Im not blaming the engine.

Because of uhh.

Oh, hell, there's no way to sugar coat it.

One group knew what they were doing, and got to essentially write the manual for cryengine. The other group made fishing games.

The lead LL devs are actually working on starcitizen these days.

Oh okay, sorry

Well that was actually the Cryengine 2, where custom asset/map creation was a lot harder than it is in CE3.
As I said, once you opened the MWO gamefiles with 7zip it's nothing more than drag&drop.

Really? PGI was making Fishing games? I just thought the name sounded cool...lol.

Time to go google PGI's fishing games haha. I thought the crew working on MWO was some of the original guys from FASA and the ones who made MCG and them....

They've operated under jarhead games, piranha games, and rabbit hole.

http://www.giantbomb...-inc/3010-1656/

There's an incomplete list of their other games.

And at that point PGI really starts to get sensitive. I wouldnt suggest anyone posting these links/facts on this forum.

Came back, read these new posts, and have yet again came up with another scratch idea just now: in order to provide maps to the community, they must do a preview of it, by mech and by free camera, and must have a minimum of votes, say, 100. Players can downvote as well, but only counter the up votes. Say that a player submits a map, but recieves 100 down votes. Players can give him 200 votes so that his map is A okay. On top of that, it must also be shown to the PGI development crew to check out. Only then will the map be allowed to the community, but, there's a catch: if the map is not to the playerbase liking, it can and will be removed by PGI.

F2P? If I remember right Tribes Ascend allowed it, other than that not sure as MWO is the first F2P game I've gotten into. I stopped playing T:A once I realized it left it's tribes roots behind.
