My idea for one variation of a laser turret is quite simple. A small laser would be placed inside an inverted hemispherical dome and mounted to the underside of a buildings eves, or within the entrance to a tunnel or passageway as a light defensive measure. This idea could be used in CW, however it may also work on other maps as well.
