We have repeatedly finished attacks suceessfully in 7min or less....right around two min is a super fast match for us (but not the fastest out there I wager). So unfortunately it is the nature of the mode to encourage rush tactics that feel in no way like the mech combat we all seek in this game.
You can fight it out and risk being short on time or simply go for the throat with a less fun but more likely successful rush technique that is a known way of circumventing the advantages for defenders.

is he saying that 30 minutes isn't long enough to defend and that the defense needs more time?

I AM SO SICK OF SUFFERING IN THIS CW BULL....!
80% of the time i must watch a bunch of unorganised cowards without any skill , tactical understanding or even bloody courage.
Just had to suffer in another defense match:15 minutes until first gate opens (8 vs 4 kills at that moment)
final result: 38 vs 20 kills and time ran out - not a single mech entered the gate within the whole match. WTF!!! are u serious ?!?!?! dammit!
U WANT MORE TIME FOR NOTHING ?!?!?!? GO AND PLAY PONYFARM! THE HELL!
There is only one way to improve gameplay:
5 minutes time to open one gate (You can´t -> you failed! BAAAAM! in your face)
15 minutes to take out one generator (You can´t -> you failed! BAAAAM! in your face)
time reduced to 25 minutes to accomplish objectives! (You can´t -> you failed! BAAAAM! in your face)
Attack mode locked for solo players and only groups of 4 or more allowed!
You say: but (QQ) .... but .... but you want to play COMMUNITY WARFARE although GIVING A F... ABOUT TEAMPLAY and WILL NEVER JOIN A UNIT ! GET THE HECK OUTTA MY SIGHT !

It is so rare that ANYONE can follow direction that when it does happen it must mean the servers are about to go down or something. Nobody wants to listen to the guys who have far more experience actually winning matches, they just want to do their own thing and it is maddening. Yesterday I was in a pug drop and the guy who took charge wanted to do a attrition win, him and 5 or 6 of his group, simple enough. You try and lure the defenders out by not giving them anything to shoot at, if they have the patience then you have no choice but to rush. Oh no, that was too simple. the other half of our team player peek-a-boo and got slaughtered, before we knew it it was like 15-5...I mean seriously? In another match the attrition tactic was working just fine when another dude said that they may push out of a gate and shoot the ravine to try and flank, everybody in the flank should turn around, nobody did, 7 mechs got wiped in the ravine and 5 at alpha, mission lost as they began spawn camping.
That is whats wrong, not the time limit. Pug's not listening.

Now the only people that seem to have the numbers for an easy ghost cap win are the IS!

Because joining a unit is an end-goal that EVERYONE had better have or they should just uninstall and choke on their tongues while they sleep, right?
How about I show you the flip side to that coin?
I'm a solo pug. I absolutely REFUSE to join a unit. I want to join in CW because I am a long time fan of the universe, timeline and lore. I'd go so far as to say that I know considerably more about those three things than a LOT of people here.
I know I've spent a substantial amount of hard earned money on this game. By your logic, since I don't belong to a unit, every dollar I spent is only worth a fraction of a dollar that was spent by someone in a group. The only people that matter, and should have a say in CW, are the groups because everyone else is just here for you to use as target practice when your unit isn't around.
I've played in several CW matches, both wins and losses, as a solo pug. I never fail to end up in the top 3 of my team. I help where I can, when I can. I help the rest of the team coordinate rally points and contact locations.
How is that, in any way, NOT what is expected from someone in CW?
The problem the OP is drivelling on about is the fact that in a PUG team, noone wants to move forward through the gate when they're on attack. Unzooming to move after you've stopped and zoomed to fire is difficult. Looking at your hands to find that "R" constantly really slows you down. I get it but it is what it is. It was another poorly thought out even weekend that drove the new players into the CW queue. Odds are good you won't be seeing them again anytime soon.

Let´s assume you are a soccer fan.
how about i show you the reality of the coin you just flipped?
You are a solo player and absolutly REFUSE to join a team. You want to play the game because you are a long time fan of the sport itself, it´s history and everything around it.You'd go so far as to say that you know considerably more about those three things than a LOT of people out there.
You know you've spent a substantial amount of hard earned money on this game by buying a football. By my logic, since you don't belong to a unit, every dollar you spent is still worth the same amount it has ever been.
BUT, if you want to play the teamsport Soccer anywhere and everywhere cos you´ve payed for it, even if it is the premierleague. Then, i must tell you that you are destroying the sport itself. No one is excited when you step upon the lawn of a premier league match. Everyone knows, you shouldn´t be there allthough you might be able to give your teammates some leadership and advise during a running match.
And if you still insist on being there , what problem would it be for you, to bring a few more players than only eleven (exclusive turrets with 2Large Lasers??? ;-) . Just to make it challenging (or still NOT challenging). But hey, let´s make it balanced - the rule is 11 vs 11. No one would enjoy it to see 11 solo players like you on the field.
ppl would stop supporting that sport, because it´s ridiculous to field casual players against a Team of successful challenge-seekers. The teamplayers would quit after a few encounters like this due to excessive boredom. On the soccer-forums casual solo players would start a huge **** storm about Beckham´s new shorts or shoes being so super OP, because it simply must be obvious for everyone that the world needs a nerf on Beckham´s shorts and shoes or even a different field. I´m sure it´s simply the environment or the equipment that would make the difference between Beckham and a casual player that spent hard earned money on that sport. ;-)
You might understand, but it is what it is.

I wanted to LOCK ATTACK MODE FOR SOLO PLAYERS - simply because it doesn´t work for them! Not even a bunch of turrets and 12ERLL DS Support can save them from losing! But maybe it´s a bit more than roflstomping 24/7 and excessive boredom that way. The best way to play these encounters is to end them as fast as possible! Letting those PUGs attack just forces teams to watch the gates for up to 30 minutes!

True enough, however, I still disagree that casual players should be barred from CW. They are just as invested in this game as the organized groups are.
I'm not saying it's too hard. It's supposed to be hard. I have NO problem at all playing as a solo. But complaining about how useless pugs and new players are is simply ridiculous.
PGI has focused EVERYTHING it has in the way of resources on you Group players and it's not enough. It's never enough. You want it all and you want it NOW. Screw everyone else. They're not part of an organized unit. PGI can fix the matchmaker and solo queue AFTER it has produced everything necessary to placate the "paying customers," right?
I would be MORE than happy to walk away from CW forever if they'd fix the goddamn matchmaker/Elo system to keep the new players....and those that still play like they're new....away from those of us that are sick and tired of having to tell them how to move forward or lock targets.
At least in CW, you can use idiots like that as tools. Get behind them and shove them into the front lines. If they can't unzoom without looking at their hands, they can at least be LRM shields for those of us who actually know how to move and shoot at the same time.

Did you ever really try to "abuse" someone as meatshield in attack mode as long as it denies stepping through the gate? You ´ll need a lot of luck to make this work.
Even the meatshield use of a PUG-Turret only works in defence. That´s the reason why solo players and newbies shouldn´t play attack mode at all. NO USE AT ALL! Absolutly hopeless!
What the Invasion mode needs, is a possibilty to end a defense mission asap ,if possible.
So often there´s a huge mismatch between the attackers and the defenders. Overwhelming attackers means winning in 5 minutes by destroying objectives. Only solution for overwhelming defenders is spawncamping for 15 minutes. Many attackers then won´t even touch the ground before getting wrecked, but the "Show" still must go on. And finally, the worst BS that can happen, is a superboring tie at closed gates. Watching a wall for 30 minutes. So exciting! Gimme more!

Attacking is suppose to be difficult and I personally wish that defenders would have much larger advantage. After all the attackers have lost their tiny minds and are attacking a fortress with equal numbers.
