Are you kidding? The trial dragon and firestarter wreck face! The others I haven't played, but they do come with the full xl, endo, and dhs package, so they are definitely at least as competitive as your average pugboat.

I love people telling other people what to do.

Here is my opinion on what you can do - if you don't want people fielding trial mechs, or you don't want new players - join a unit, field 12 people, and impose whatever 'restrictions' you want.

Don't you enjoy people telling you what to do?

If you are dropping in anything other than a 12 man you have to take what you get just like in any other PUG. Players have a right to play the game and there is a drop deck bug. I have had the bug a couple of times and so has most of my unit.

At least the IS trial mechs are champions and the clan mechs are just better. On my clan alt I even dropped in the less popular trials and did fairly well.

This is much less about the mech and more of the pilot.

Exactly, like people telling folks to group up and rush as one instead of straggling in one at a time, who do you think you are to tell people how to play, even if it helps the team win? Who dares tell some one else where to go to help stop the attackers rush? Or to shoot legs or basically do anything smart to help the team win? These are PUGs and they don't need anyone telling them how to win. Of course then they cry that they can't win unless they are playing against a team of other PUGs who don't want anyone to tell them what to do. I mean it's not like there are other game modes where people can play as they like and not worry about anything deeper than an arena death match.
Some people have some crazy ideas about playing this whole CW mode as if it's something different from the regular arena TDM modes. The nerve.

Seriously, if you don't have enough 'Mechs to field for CW, then stay away from it.

Maybe I'm an idiot, but I think some of the IS trials are quite good. I do well in the FS9 and DRG.
