Is Radar Derp Broken?

Last few games every mech I have is getting ALOT more hits than usual when I drop behind cover when missles are coming.

I am very good at popping a LRM mech he launches and I avoid the missles but now it seems they can lock me for another 2-4 secs after I have been well out of sight.

If you changed something in the last couple patches it would be nice to know. Kinda sucks paying 6 freaking million and it not work worth a damn.

I experienced, it worked well for my Enemys today.

Check for UAVs. Those are usually the only thing that allows continuation of a missile lock w/o anyone else looking at you.

Could be that those targeting you are using the target Decay module.

I may be wrong but if you have the target derp module on, it allows you to drop behind cove and the enemy will lose lock right away... And so their missiles will lose lock. BUT if that missile mech that has lock on you, has a target decay module, and you have the target derp, his target decay module voids your target derp and so he still keeps lock on you for a few extra seconds after you take cover.

Most likely culprit is UAV or a spotter somewhere that you are not seeing, could be using tag or even (worst case) a narc.

When the rain comes it sucks. Radar derp Module is still probably the BEST module available, altho in my opinion, way to expensive (as are all modules and yeah i realize they are a type of 'end game thing', but they are expensive even to those of us that have stock piles of space bucks)

UAVs and mark 1 eyeballs will still make you go boom boom. Crisscrossed fields of missile fire also may cause you to be in a situation of doom and gloom as well.

Had people say something in chat when I run target decay. Been accused of running cheats with it on. Could have just been a real good lrm pilot who knows his placement regarding the map. Can dumb fire right on top of you if I suspect where you are.

Normal targeting is 2.5 seconds, if I remember right. It might be 1.5...but I really can't find any supporting evidence for either number.

Target decay is 2.75s, while ATD is 3.5s.

Radar derp just counters the normal lock time if I remember right, which means with ATD equipped you still have either 1.5 or 2,5 seconds of lock after breaking LoS, instead of 3.5s.

I've been screwing around with an LRM boat lately and it's pretty easy to tell who has radar deprivation and who does not. One thing to take into account is that a couple weeks ago everyone and their mother was piloting an ECM Hellbringer. Less ECM means more and faster locks.

I was playing on the snow map for CW and was on our side of the gate by 500-600 meters in the hills and the guy behind the gate was locking me and I would drop down and move to avoid the missles. NO UAV was present

I've seen lights sneaking up into the mountains that are labeled out of bounds. Perhaps one was spotting from there, or you were NARC'd. I don't know, unless you record a match there really isn't much for us to go on other than hearsay.

hummm maybe there was a spotter have to look around more if that happens again.

I wasn't narc either the team hadn't pushed thru the gate at that point of the game

I thought derp nullifies decay. It probably should be somewhere between the two with both effects mitigated.

wish PGI would release info on how DERP vs DECAY works

If Decay drops from 4 secs to 2 secs that would make sense. But if they lose lock instantly then I should have avoided those missles with ease.

I thought it was the other way around.

Advanced Sensor range and Target decay also helps.

Radar Derp doesnt work at all or its buggy as hell. I was directly behind a building with my back towards it, no enemy mechs around and yet the LRM boat continued his attack for around 5 seconds. Im like WTF, why isnt derp working!

Maybe the cover was not there for your enemy...that Kind of bug happens frequently...some times you can see Mechs in Heat Vison behind cover etc...
