Can anyone tell me what the best way to buy paint colors is? I really hate spending tons of money on stinking paint when I can be using it on mechs but I would like something other than green. I'm looking for red, blue, black, green and white. Must they be purchased individually or are there paint bundles that can be bought?

Thanks

Paints have to be bought individually. Best option is to wait for when they are on sale, the only paint "bundles" are in the Clan and Resistance Mech Pack orders in the faction content. Each faction option includes a bundle of three unique faction colors.

Colors are unloked for all mechs once you buy them
One-shot camos are only for one mech and disappear once you change camo (you can change color however)
Camo unlock works like color unlock but it's for all chassis of the same type only, all Highlander varians, for exampe, or all Jenners.

There are also a few basic colors that can be bought with c-bills (red, blue, orange, lila I think). They are pretty pale, though, and don't combine well together on the basic camos in my opinion.

Colors have good value, quite unlike camos, which are a big scam in my eyes. 750mc for 1 pattern that can only be used on 1 mech chassis? Yeah, no thanks.

Colors look awfully expensive still. I wish they would go on sale more. I noticed a certain orange color that I really want now.

75MC actually. Only ever use One-Shot camos. They're actually very cheap. Let me put that in big font for any poor souls who might be innocently skimming the thread...

Always buy One-shot Camos. Always.

Yeah, sure, if you never want to change your camo (or only a handful of times), it's a good deal. Personally, I grow tired of paint schemes very fast, so they are useless for me.

Paints do sometimes go on sale, about 50% off. That's when you should buy them.

Always buy a white and black. These two colors goes with just about anything else. And like above, buy colors when they are on sale.

you know, it would be cool if every mech started with their own stock design like they did before colors came out

If you mean the basic colour that the chassis "were", yes I agree. Catapults were a gold I think, and Centurions were a grey silverish and so on. Those were cool and it gave mechs deistinction even before paint was applied.

As to paint, buy them when they are on sale. They can be used across the board on any mech you own.

Camos are either 1 shot - good on 1 mech until you change it (you can change colours often tho)
or Perma Camo that can be used on 1 set of Chassis as often as you change socks. Tiger today, Urban block tomorrow and then then next day back to Tiger. Again colours can be changed as you wish.

Wow, I knew camo was a ripoff but I thought it was a bit less of a ripoff than that, so no way in hell am I buying any camo then.

Individual camo (1 shot) are like 75 MC i think. Not to bad. 75Mc per mech but you can not change the camo or it is gone. Colours can be changed all the time even on the 1 shot camo

Mech packs come with colors, at least that is where all of mine came from.

It took me a while to decode "W as Y" as "way".

I buy them during half off sales, the 'standard' colors should satisfy your needs. Unless you want to be bright and shiny in which case you'll want the premium (brighter, more expensive) tints.

If being purely white doesn't matter, try a camo grey. Dirt cheap (250 MC) during a sale. I say this because the regular greys are 500 MC during a sale.

Side note: Paint bundles... surprised PGI hasn't tried this one yet.

Lol... yeah sorry. I typed this up on my phone... stinking auto correct. Which is also why i posted the question twice by mistake. Thought the first one didn't take. Thank you for the responses guys. That's good info for me. I'll have to think hard about buying paint and camos.

There's a few things to know
-One Shots
Can only be used once and are 'gone' if you ever change it. Much cheaper but are one time use.
-Permanent
Are unlocked and reusable any time.

-Paints
Unlocked for every mech (if you 'unlock' instead of one shot) you own and can buy.
-Camos
Unlocked for only that mech (if you 'unlock') such as applying it to an Awesome will make it useable for all the Awesomes you own but not any other mech.

Best way to buy them is to wait for a sale on the color you want, or at least one similar to it.

I agree with the above, Resistance pack if you are an IS player, Clan Wave 2 pack if you are a Clan player. Really those are the best ways.

You get colors, plus mechs, plus camo patterns for those mechs. The colors on those patterns are locked right now, but I think they were going to allow people to change them in a future patch.
