There is NOTHING more annoying on this good earth than Mechwarrior online, not being credited for two kills in a match just makes it worse.
This needs to be fixed now.

When you see "Unknown has killed..." it's usually when the person died due to an ammo explosion, but I'm pretty sure you do actually get credit for the kills (provided you were the one that caused the ammo explosion) if you check the end-of-round screen.

Meh. You get just as good rewards for assists in this game, as it should be. Individual kill counts are meaningless.

You actually get credit for a kill if you caused it, but it announced as "Unkown"

Yep, you still get credit, c-bills, XP at the end of the round for that kill.

I think the UNKNOWN has to do with the server not properly registering players. I've killed people via ammo explosion and it still says "Lord Melvin has killed XXXX".
