I have a Hunchie GI, and am not sure what to do. I'm quite bad with gauss rifles also. I saw many threads on SPs, G, etc but not GI. I apologize if this request is redundant. Helpful input appreciated!

This isn't sarcasm: Put a gauss rifle on it and practice. It's the best ballistic in the game, it's worth being good at and the GI's quirks are just made for gauss.

Timing and reading/predicting enemy's movement is crucial to using GR.
Personally, I slap an AC10, SRM6 and 2x MPL on mine to go brawling.

I've seen players pump out some ridiculous damage with this thing. Practice with the gauss and you'll get used to its timing, it's worth it.

Practicing is good, so is watching what others do. Below is a link to a No Guts No Galaxy clip of Sean Lang piloting the HBK-Gi to good effect.

Guess I will have to learn to use my Gauss better. How bout the rest of the mech? Weapons? Engine? Equipment worth it?

If you go more than 70 and don't have ac20 then you should get a shadow hawk. ;)

Std200 ac20 3x med pulse. 3 heatsinks 3 tonnes ammo. :)

It's kinda silly, but I really enjoy my GI with an XL275, LBX-10 (3 tons ammo), LRM10 (2 tons ammo) and a MPL in the head. I pretend I am a light mech, and do a lot of harassing until I find something with holes in it's armor.

This is how I run mine. You don't have to, just giving you an idea.
Yes I run an XL, the gauss rifle has a 90% chance to explode when destroyed...guess where most people aim? =)
So why run a standard when your gauss rifle detonates and kills you 9/10times?
If I am wrong on that...someone please correct me!!

i practiced with Gauss rifle and got better. I picked up the gauss cooldown, and am doing much better. 1 gauss, 3 med pulse lasers, xl 250 i think. Going 89. Doing much more damage. Thanks.

Because the GI does have Generic Ballistic Cool Down Buffs, I actually opted to put 2 AC5's in mine, and a few backup Lasers.
You'd be surprised at how fast I can fire my AC5's with a CD module. Its an interesting twist on the design to be honest.

Before quirks, the GI was just a Hero 4G to me. While I strongly recommend trying to learn the Gauss, especially since you already own it, but you can always just go AC20 brawler.

Also, if the is the only Hunch you own, you'll never get speed tweak under elite talents. I need speed tweak for my brawlers, so staying with Gauss is still a better option.
