Hi guys,

Think of spending 2-$300 on a new GPU and looking to get some possible Overclocking advice for my PC.

Knowing nothing about the new GPU's these days, i need some advice, also some advice on how else i should improve my PC for MWO perfromance.

Currenty, i run on medium with a FPS of around 55 at max, dropping to low 30's during high gameplay (explosions, dropsips etc.)

My system is :

i2500k with Corsair H100i cooler
Geforce 560 Ti 2gb
8Gb DDr3 1600 Ram
240gb SSD

Thinking of a 760 GTX GPU, would that suit my system and get the game running decent on high? Or should i look into another card that will benefit my system better?

Also, should i overclock the CPU, as i do have sufficient cooling to do so, just never really needed the extra juice?

Advice appreciated, thanks guys.

MWO benefits from high CPU clocks more than then GPU. I know a lot of people here are big fans of the Nvidia 970

OC that processor!!

Im sure the 970 is really nice, but outta my price range. So you think id prob gain from from a CPU OC rather than a new GPU?

I5 2500K is sandybridge overclocking masterpiece........Let er howl.....there is a metric tonne of information regarding sandybridge overclocking......everywhere. This should be your first step and than decide after you play improved MWO with 4.2-4.4ghz sandy I5 OC

A GTX760 would be about 1.5 560Tis so.....I would reccomend a 100% performance increase.......If you were to buy a GPU.
i went from GTX460 1gb to GTX760 2gb (Like SLI) but single power effective upgrade.

I'm not sure what video card prices are like in Australia, here the 970 starts at around $330. They're a good card and can't go wrong with them.

I'm pretty sure the 960 will be coming out somewhat soon, It's probably worth the wait.

Best card for under $300 AUS is the AMD Radeon R9 285 @$279+:

http://www.cplonline...dition-2gb.html

or the R9 280 for $259+:
http://au.pcpartpick...ard-r9280atdbd/

it would be between the GTX 760 and 770 in Price/Performance: http://www.tomshardw...iew,3107-7.html

Reason i don't want to spend so much is the only game i really play is MWO. With the Radeon card, will its performance be better in MWO?

A 760 is bad value. Wait 2 weeks for the launch of the 960 and 960Ti, those should be within your budget and might push down the prices of the competition.

meanwhile overclock your cpu :)

You should save money and buy a GTX 970, because cheaper cards provide far less for the dollar. There's really no point in buying old technology right now.

Maybe new AMD and the 960 will be out in a couple months.

Yea, i can wait a bit, no rush, so i'll see the price of the 960 when it comes out. So i take it that the 960 is budget version of the 970? I dont think a 970 will provide $$ value for me as its twice the price of a 760. When all i need it is to play one game lol. I don't play anything else on my PC with heavy graphics, except maybe occasionally.

Anyways, i have Overclocked to 4.4zGhz using the auto settings in my bios last night, but was too tired to play MWO, will give it a test tonight.

The GTX 960 should be around January 22nd and be in the $200 range.

The CPU OC should yield a little bit nicer experience, I previously ran a 2600K at 4.4GhZ and was pretty happy with it.

I agree with all the GTX 960 comments. It should be $200 and will be the best bang for the buck. The AMD 280X (formerly known as 7970) is a good by now at $200, but the 960 should beat it and use significantly less power. I had 2 GTX 760s and for $200 in todays market they are over priced.

Thanks for the advice all. Ill stick with my set up for now, just Oc'ing the CPU atm. Will wait for the 960 as it's in my price range by the sound of it and will be better than the 760.

Got my GTX 970 AMP! today .... GPU is not all in mwo ... no matter if i set my settings to low or very high, i have around 30 FPS on non Invasion (didnt get any Invasion match today)
But the 30 FPS are stable and rarly go under it. I even can shadowplay with 30 FPS.
Looks like i need to replace some other old parts too...

Motherboard: ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO/U3S6 (only have pci-e 2.0 not 3.0 that the GTX 970 use)
Cpu: AMD Phenom II X4 955 125W (C3) Black Edition, 4x 3.20GHz (overclocked to 3.5)
old Sata Harddrive
only 8 GB DDR3 RAM (some noname not realy good ones)

Such a nice GPU and all other games running ultrasmooth but Mwo stuck on 30 FPS ... *sadface*
