That the kit fox and Adder are built on the exact same lower torso and legs?

Many of the Clan machines are set up like that.

Take a look at the TWolf/Maddog legs
Or the Summoner/Hbringer

Same deal with Summoner and Hellbie, Timbie and Mad Dog. Omni-mechs are like that.

Aaargh, ninjaed.

I'll add Direwolf and Warhawk then!

Well..it's a little odd considering the mechs were made by different clans, I wasn't expecting them to have simply stuck a new upper torso on the legs :P

Clans are known for their disdain of waste due to scarce resources they had in the beginning. Recycling mech parts instead of making one from scratch actually fits their philosophy.

Pfft, this isn't a Clan Mech phenomenon. Quickdraw/Highlander anyone?

From a PGI perspective, it saves time and money.

From a lore/"realism" standpoint, it makes good manufacturing sense. You already have the designs for those components, and they work well, why reinvent the wheel?

Thor and Loki (Hellbringer and Summoner) are like sister mechs, They share similar designs and are used heavily by Jade Falcon. So I can understand them using the same parts.

Otherwise I think they do it mostly to save on resources and time.

It's not good for hitboxes and scale at times.

I can excuse TT and all that other stuff, but at least for omnimechs... it is what it is.

Although, the Timberwolf-S and future Direwolf-S is kinda screwing things up.

did you know that the clans named that Mech Timber wolf and the Freebirths of the IS had a targeting computer problem because it has never seen an timber wolf so thats why they call it mad cat.

Did you know the Clans were naming their mechs wrong for years until the Inner Sphere came along and corrected them?

Similarities mode activated!
(clan names used only)
Firemoth - Mist Lynx = Legs
Kitfox - Adder = Legs
Viper - Nova = Legs
Mad dog - Timberwolf = legs
Hellbringer - Summoner = Legs
Gargoyle - Executioner = legs
Warhawk - Direwolf = legs
Ice Ferret - Mist Lynx = arm
Gargoyle - Executioner = arm
Hellbringer - Summoner - Timberwolf = arm

If you are woundering why is this? it is easier to mass produce parts and use them for multiple mechs. this is common irl in nearly all eras of war. mass produce = easy repair = more use and also more specialised training.

ie USA in WWII... the only gun they had for nearly everything is a 12.7mm machine gun. It was spammed on all there planes. it was used on the tanks and infantry, it was on the battleships, etc.

people get very good at using it and it was easy to repair and replace.
(some other guns eventually came and left but this was the most iconic usage of a certain weapon in a recent war)

Would make sense that a civilization built on saving resources would do this move.

While the Cougar was my favorite light in MechCommander, it will be utter trash in this game. The Adder is already unusably slow for a light, and the Cougar is even slower, at the exact same tonnage.
