In-Game Mech Hangers For Defenders

That being said, I think it would be a neat addition to have defender's start/respawn in a mech bay or mech hanger type of structure instead.
It makes sense, at least to me. They would already have a stable of mechs there if they were "stationed" to defend that planet. Also, I think it is more immersive. The dropships make sense for attackers, but maybe not as much for defenders.
Anyways, feel free to vote and discuss/comment/flame below!

Troopers don't live in towns.

We wouldnt see this on these maps or even the third one someone said they nearly have ready, but wouldnt be a surprise if it was on a future map.

Plus, it would mean defenders would lose the security that dropships bring around a dropzone, making spawncamping much more likely; just plopping down more turrets would only work to a point, because turrets don't respawn.
I much prefer things the way they are. It makes sense to me that the defenders would reactively be sent to defend a location that an attacking dropship has been detected enroute to, and that they would very rarely be caught right outside the defender's garrison itself.
That kind of thing would make some sense in very specific scenarios, and be totally cool and awesome, but I only see that really happening if/when someone finally gets the moxie to make a single-player (or cooperative online) campaign Mechwarrior game.

Actually it would make sense from the military perspective of "fixed site security" in which the force responsible for the infrastructure, is embedded in the location. Happens all of the time in the real-world.
Don't consider yourself the entire planetary garrison, merely the defensive force allocated to that location.
I think elevators bringing up mechs from an underground bunker makes sense from a lore perspective here and would be a nice change up.
Perhaps they use Dropships for planets particularly hard hit so that the defenders get the benefits of the dropship lasers, and in matches where the defenders seem to be winning handily, they use the elevators (with no lasers) to introduce defenders from the mech bays below.
Just an opportunity to do a little on the fly balancing of the fights to keep them intense.

The whole base defenses are wierd to start with anyway. As there's no emplaced anti-air anywhere around, obviously enemy dropships nor fighters are of any concern to the orbital cannons. So then the concern is obviously ground assault (surprise!), but we have gates with magnetic locks that are designed poorly, and relatively poor turret defenses only inside/on the wall. So it's not the emplaced defenses that are supposed to protect the base. From a strategic standpoint, it looks like the bases were designed under the assumption they wouldn't be attacked, but if they were then the defenses were a temporary measure for allied mechs to get in place. So if you're planning on your actual defense being mechs, wouldn't you at least have a few mechbays? These cannons seem like they're expensive, and kind of high-priority to defend, so I never did understand the paper-thin defenses and flying in defenders.
(In implimentation, though, you'd need a multitude of places to come out from. I personally like elevators. But if you can bury mech repair facilities, wouldn't you bury your power generators? But then that wouldn't contradict the logic of these places anyway.)
