I am looking for MWO players who own 3D printers in or around the UK.

I am currently in the process of working on some mods to convert joysticks to new contactless "Hall Sensor" technology with the accuracy needed to make stick aiming in MWO feasible.
If you are laughing at this point, the last laugh may well be on you - done right, stick aiming in MWO could be more accurate than mouse.

There is also the potential to turn this into a business or at least a minor revenue stream.
I bet many people would be willing to lay out money on a few printed items that allow them to do the conversion easily and professionally.
We would be talking mainly sub-matchbox sized items, however I could see this expanding into other parts such as replacement handles with mount points for extra buttons.
This is not something limited to MWO - this is equally applicable to the simulation market, and similar ideas would be applicable to the wider gaming market.

The skills / resources I need access to are as follows:

Able to print in a rigid material.

Decent tolerance on the parts. Many of these are to do with the workings of the stick - any inaccuracies may well result in unwanted play on the stick.

Ideally able to scan or model existing parts in 3D to modify geometry.

Local enough to me (South London, UK) to be able to send parts or meet up.

To get an idea of the kind of thing that I am talking about, please see a thread of mine here.

Thank you, good info.

I think most of the existing parts are made of ABS.

Would'nt it be easier if it was just fixed inhouse?

[edit] Not being a ****, just asking. Because I would be interested in this.

Interested in what? As in you have a printer?

There are many reasons why no stick on the market is perfect for MWO, and this is not an issue limited to MWO. Many sticks are very much orientated towards the flight-sim market, and games such as MWO and Elite / Star Citizen have nothing really aimed directly at them.

I have ripped apart many sticks and throttles now, and see a definite market it replacement internals to enhance accuracy, add new buttons etc. With ready-made controller boards such as the Teensy or BU0836 cheap and easy to use, It's as simple as connecting the wires to the new board. If you want hall sensors, then you need to fabricate parts, but honestly its the kind of mod I do with a chupa chups lolly stick and some superglue.

I just wondered if maybe someone else with a 3D printer was into this kind of thing, cos with a few simple parts, it would be much easier and a better job.
