I started the game this morning and the launcher started downloading either a 6+GB patch or a total reinstall of the game. What gives?

It's happened to others. Done weird random error. Sometimes a full re install helps other times relaxing backed up files. Or deleting user directory.

Since the last patch I encountered that and a lot of crashes into the match to desktop. Didn't seem to matter which map either.

I've had a crash to desktop a couple of times, but this is completely new. The button on the launcher said "patch", but it installed the base package. After it installed, it did it all over again -- downloading the base installation. So I shut it down and ran the fixer thingy which caused MWO to throw missing file errors.

I unistalled/reinstalled but unfortunately can't try it out since I no longer have time. Grrr.


Oddly, everything worked great last night.

Exactly the same for me. I am currently waiting for the clean install to finish. I hope it works.

Current version is unlisted? I think that's what is causing it.

Yeah, I got hit by that as well.....

Saw patch, said hmm maybe some sort of stealth quick fix let me click....
Saw the >6G download 30s later as I tabbed for a sec.....Awwww hell no!!!!!
Abort! Abort! Cancel damn u!

Now I got to wait for the repair tool to fix 5 files on my ****** connection sigh........

Ran the patcher once already, immediately after it was done: Downloading Base...

Trying a second time. If that doesn't work, I guess it's uninstall and re-install.

The repair tool did not work for me. In fact, that is what killed it.

Usually have pretty good luck with the fixer tool (after all it is justa hash checker)

Step 1:
Hash check
Step 2:
Delete stuff that doesn't pass
Step 3 (2nd pass of repair tool):
Re-download paks that are missing
Step 4 (3rd pass):
Verify

I'll let everyone know how it goes....on step 4 now.

Well, the repair tool didn't kill it for me. I was able to play find last night, and got the issue this morning, before running the repair tool. However, the repair tool is not working for me either. Just ran it twice in a row (total of three times), both times it reported the same files as mismatched; even though nothing touched the files between the two runs.

Going to try the uninstall/re-install now. But need to go for lunch. Guess I'll start the re-install, and see what happens after eating.

The clean install didn't work. After uninstalling the previous game, I installed to a different directory. The patcher ran, finalized the install, and then wanted to patch the entire game again!!!!

There is something ****** up about this game the last few weeks. The game is playing totally different than it did a few weeks back. Im having crashes to especially when alt+tab'ing between applications. Also having in-game issues. got hit with a small laser to the front that took off 4% of armor and triggered damage to my rear armor.

Same thing here "Downloading Install base" for the 3rd time this week. Yesterday it happened and I uninstalled and re installed and played all last night. This morning I get on and its started all over again.
