heat limit of 3. If the enemy is using volley fire or chain fire, they don't get
heat, because
heat is only "supposed" to penalize damage dealt at one instant of time.

Um... yes you can. You can "chainfire" ACs and Lasers all day long without ghost heat kicking in. Before you complain you need to educate yourself.

I think his point was actually regarding heat efficiency more so than actually talking about chain firing mechanics in and of themselves.
I built a 6xLRM5 boat and with cooldown 5 module, yes it is absolutely OP. It is a waterhose of LRM5s with no end in sight, and no ammo constrain to be worried about. In fact, on that mech, the backup MLs are more concern for heat than the LRMs themselves.
Sure, a group with lots of AMS takes a bite out of your damage, but you can still get through with alpha fire...it is just less heat efficient. Even with ghost heat you can do it 3-4 times before you even have to pause from firing the next full volley...

Kit Fox with 3x AMS and Overload and Range pretty much shoots them all down. Load yourself up with 4 to 6 tons of ammo and 3x ER ML and you are set for them. Don't forget your ECM.

My HGN-733P can shoot 2 + 2 all day. You are correct sir. Takes a bit to overheat myself.

No you can't. My 3 AMS Kitfox was able to calmly walk up to a CPLT-A1. He decided to switch from Streaming to Volley and I think 1 missile hit me. Then I was within min range and lasered him to death.

Unless you're fighting anyone with a single AMS.

ZOMG, word of the day is LRM-ainbow... from now on known as the lamebow?
This is easily fixed by increasing the cool down time of LRM5's. The real question is whether someone with LRM25-30 needs more penalties? These guys carry 2-3 tons of ammo per launcher which nets the total to 4-5 tons per weapon. We're talking ER-LL weights for 1/2 the ER-LL damage and less range. Perhaps the better solution is carry some AMS, ECM, and/or radar deprivation and break LOS.

I don't have problems with LRMs myself, but when my entire team is too afraid to step out into the rain, that's when this game ceases to be fun. When the 23 other people are playing the rock hugging game, it's no fun. LRMs and the fear of them cause this, as well as the 2x gauss and 6xUac5 dires. Some maps you can use cover to factually advance without exposing yourself too much, some maps, this isn't an option in certain locations, so you get peek-and-poke tactics.
To pretend it isn't a problem is ignoring the truth. To pretend its a BIG problem, is exaggerating the heck out of it.
