Sorry for not having completed the Lolcust grinding (its in the works, 6K left on each variant I've grinded out). I'll have something written about it soon.

I'm giving you all the opportunity to "troll me" between two bad mechs. I got the Summoner Pack during Christmas because... I forgot to spend it elsewhere. So here we are.

You have the choice between the Nova and the Summoner. I will try to give a fair review, but let's be clear that both mechs are somewhat hindered by their current set of omnipods and quirks that will require a more indepth discussion on their issues.

With that said, PICK MAH POISON!

Also, I've been working with Mcgral18 on a special project (hint, it's related to discussions that we've had many times around) and there will be SPOILERS.

It will hopefully be good.. and it will have pictures!
"Can has those thingys!"

Edit - Articles about the Nova and Summoner are up...

I vote Nova.

I don't think it's a bad mech and I would like to see how you will review it.

Summoner, it can actually do things safely. Nova's WAY too big as a medium.

Whatever "mech" that is in the gif clearly has more hardpoints than the Thor could ever dream of having.

Nova Prime can run 6xMLs (3 each arm) and 6x SLs (3 each arm) and be just fine.

Summoner Prime I did LRMs in the torso and 2xMLs in each arm.

Once I got into the groove, both builds were like a hot knife through butter.

As the Nova and the Summoner primary pilot, I vote for the Summoner. Its tanky and sports a more varied loadout for differing situations. While its a pitiful brawler against certain mechs, the high ballistic hardpoint is perfect for the Gauss cannon makes it a superior support mech.

Want a below average mech? Pick the Summoner. This thing's not bad, it's just not good (think the pre-quirk hunchie 4P).

Want a kinda bad mech? Pick the Nova.

If you want to find really bad mechs you have to go live in one of the Wave II mechs for a while (other than the hellbringer).

I vote Nova, because it's just a bad Robot.

The Summoner isn't a good robot, but it isn't bad. It has decent hardships and agility, and is only held back by few, limited hard points and too lite pod space due do lack of upgrades.

The Nova has the same downsides but also enjoys a horrible physical shape resulting in irreparably bad hitboxes, and all its hard points being at the end of long, wide, really low slung arms.

The Nova is just bad.

Even though it has limitations, I'd say the Summoner is better than the Nova.

So I vote Nova for your guide.

If you want to have a little bit of fun, go Summoner.

If you want a not necessarily rewarding challenge, go Nova. (Still haven't gotten the hang of the stupid things. Those knuckle-dragging arms are killer, and not in the good way)

I’m going to unironically recommend you the Summoner.

It has at least three good builds:

- 5x Artemis SRM6s (clan splatcat)
- 5x Streak SRM6 (or drop shoulder launcher to 4 or 2 for more ammo, the launcher model will be smaller too)
- 4x ML UAC20 in shoulder (giant Hunchback)

But wait, you say, Stormcrow can do all of these better!

Well, yes and no. Stormcrow is faster and smaller, and has less armor. Summoner can jump, and it makes all the difference, especially on SRM and streak builds. Not only you are never in danger of alpha’ing your teammates in a heated brawl, you are also a much better light hunter on maps with low cover, like River City or Tourmaline.

Also, with the recent quirks, Summoner’s agility in air is close to agility of IS jump mediums like Shadowhawks.

I have both and I didnt even waste my time with the nova. The summoner is a pos too but has some hqrdpoints you can have fun with. 5x 6ssrm is fun, 4x10lrm with 1 narc is good.

I would actually say the Nova is less bad than the Summoner; it can carry guns.

So, choose between armour or guns.

I prefer Guns.

=Summoner=
it has some high mounted ST Omnis for ballistics(AC, Gauss),
and a high Cockpit 5M for good missile launchers(SRM, Streak, LRM),
energy is kinda low on arms,
only 22.5 free tons

=Nova=
has 12 Energy slots(6 per arm),
but arms are low mounted and large,
kinda big for a medium,
4ST Ballistic great for 4MG not much more,
only 16 free tons

both have JJ,

i think its a tie,

I'd recommend the summoner.
It is a little faster and can take a few more hits. it's n*pple hardpoints are good for peeking. good hitbox profile (compared to a wider nova). And... no one would try to headshot you.!

That does not mean the nova is bad though... i like them both.

They are both kind of bad however, I honestly find my Summoner being the better of the two. Both have very limited options as far as loadouts with the Nova having more hardpoints but lacking the heat management capability to actually use them. Summoner is more durable though by far which is why it has my vote.

The thing about the Summoner is that it has a major lack of hard points which makes on a few configs viable. I run:

2 x LPL
2 x ER ML

or

4 x ER ML
2 x UAC/5

or

4 x ER ML
1 x UAC/20

or

2 x ER LL
2 x ER ML
1 x SRM6

However there aren't many other options than these. On the other hand, those options seem to get the job done more often than not.

I agree completely. And vote Summoner accordingly. ;)

At least the Summoner can run a high mounted ballistic, backed up by some medium lasers. It's a terror with a UAC20, peeking over ridges.

There's nothing good to say about the Nova.
