Seeing the AA12 in action with explosive shells was worth the price of admission. I sat through the whole movie to see that.

It was kinda like the latest Rambo..... it got better once you got past the first 20-30 mins where they were actually trying to make it a story.

I don't know about Speakman or Weathers, but Segal apparently turned down a role in the first one because he's got a personal beef with one of the producers.

Other big names left out -
Terrance Crews was the 4th choice for that character, it was turned down by:
Wesley Snipes (couldn't leave the country for filming due to his "tax problems")
Forest Whitaker (scheduling conflict)
and
50 Cent (wanted to rap more than act)

Jean Claude Van Damme turned down a role in the movie because the character lacked substance. (this from the guy who stared in Street Fighter, ow, my irony)

Ben Kingsley, Robert De Niro, and Al Pacino were all considered for the role of the villain. No idea why they didn't get/take it. Kurt Russel turned down the role that went too Bruce Willis because he "Wasn't doing ensemble movies" at the time.
