And indeed, it would be that. But if you look to the Summoner/Hellbringer and the Timber Wolf/Mad Dog, you will see what the Viper's achilles heel is.
Russ is convinced that the legs are modular (They are a modular design, but pretty obviously, the Mad Dogs are Std Internals, that weigh 6 tons, whereas the TWF is Endo and weigh 4 tons, so modular but not identical design), and thus, 100% the same size, regardless of tonnage or armor differences. On the SMN/HBR it is not too noticeable, as they are only 5 tons apart, but on the Mad Dog, the legs are noticeably 15% too large, all things being equal, because they are the exact legs from the TW Model.
Well, the Viper shares the leg model, traditionally, with the Nova. Yeah, that gem of scaling perfection. Which says, even if they get the torso and the rest of the scaling to more correct cicada proportions, the legs will be massive, and easy to hit. And thus, the Great Hope, will become just another chapter of the Great Hype, unless we can convince Russ that the legs (and the rest of it) need to be very small for it to have any viability.
expect a monstrosity like this
