Anytime I take a screen shot, it turns out blank/black. Video drivers are up to date and it happened with different versions of the drivers. I do have dual monitors but I set the computer to use just the primary monitor.

It used to function but over the summer it stopped. Normal screenshots function just fine. I've tested with and without a third party screen cap app(Lightshot, ******* awesome screen grab utility!) running.

All I can think of drivers.. but the built-in game screenshots should work just fine though.

How will another third party screenshot app help? The issue is in MWO.

I take screenshots via Steam, but Steam saves them in JPEG so the quality leaves something to be desired.

You're using the screenshot key, which doesn't work. MWO uses F12 or something. If that doesn't work, just get fraps, afterburner, or whatever other screen utility you prefer.

If it still doesn't work, it's on your end.

This when you press F9 or whatever it is? I only get the blank ones when I use Print Screen. How odd~

I take my screenshots from recorded matches. Sometimes the shots do come out black. Taking the screenshot a second time always work.

Go get Fraps. it doesn't use up a lot of your PC power unless you are recording and even the free version lets you take screenshots. Easy to use and gives you what you want.

Screenshot Key is "PrintScreen".

Maybe change between Winowed and Fullscreen modes to see if you get Screenshots in the other modes.

when I used the printscreen button it gave me black screen. Fraps is better in my opinion, it just works.

Don't use the Printscreen key, one of the F keys puts a screenie in the games folder.

My (default) screenshot key is definitely PrintScreen, and it works fine. Saves it to the directory.


Fullscreen Window, if that makes a difference.


Upon further inspection; both F12 and PrintScreen take a screenshot. Interesting.

Im assuming my Lightshot isnt working at the application level. I'll try f12 the next chance I get to play.

IF you have Full Screen and take a screen shot I got that as well. you have to have the window visible to get a good Picture.

Run in full screen windowed mode, hit PrtScreen, open Paint (or your preferred program) and hit the paste button. Bit clunky, but it works.

I have used it since summer. I have a screenshot of my King Crab as my TS avatar... Weird.
