Ok.. thx for the guess ;)

Source, Planetside 2's engine, Battlefield, CoD, Unreal, Unity. All FPSes have little to no hitreg problems that aren't easily patched.

Yet this one repeatedly has issues. So yea its a guess, and educated guess.

PGI prefers to fix things using band-aid's - problem is they don't last long - and tend to fester.

What do you mean with a band aid?

He means rather than fixing the problem, they cover it. Ghost heat was a bandaid fix for high alpha energy builds like the 6 PPC stalker. It leads to more problems down the line.

Well I just got shot square in the back, and it blew out my cockpit in my madcat, didn't touch any of the rear armor..
Good hitreg going on there.

Tickrate is going bonkers or something for the projectile to phase completely through my body and hit me on the other side.

Some of the Game's hitboxes are really F-d up. Look up the Victor's hitboxes for an example.

Hasty solutions that cover ups the symptoms but does little/nothing to mitigate the underlying problem. Doesn't take long for the issue to rear its ugly head again.

I lost count how many times did they fix this again?

Basically every half a year.

Don't forget patches - tends to muck it up as well.

I see this once in a while. Most notably when I sneak up on an assualt in something like a Kintaro with SRMS and blast them in the back... the damage is all registered on their front =/

It's not even the hitreg by itself though. I presume the other team is feeling it on me as well, so we all share the burden... but when you are in an ammo dependent mech watching those precious shots disappear in...well nothing, visually they are impacting, that really hurts. If you are rocking an AC20 hunchback and 4-5 of your shots fail to register in a round, that really starts to impact your ability to aid your team...

I only get hit reg issues in cw. Also only intermittently. Sometimes every AC20 shot from my hbk hits the enemy's ct, sometimes the shots just disappear into their ct....

Has anybody else noticed that it is only in cw or have I just not played enough solo drops since cw launched to experience it?

I'm in college for a degree in Game Design. I can tell you the Cryengine 1 was an experimental engine solely created for graphics, thus the "Crysis 1 test" because it sucks power up like a pig.

Though it could be the frostbite engine which melts machines big and small so...

Good thing this is CE3. I believe you are refering to CE2, which actually had pretty good hit reg with up to 32 players in multiplayer actually. And certainly not CE3.

don't forget we have server side authority. I'm not so convinced that the game I see is always the same game the server sees.

LOL? nearly every MMO game has hitreg issues. Juts a look in their forum confirms this for PS 2 too.

32 players is not equal to 24 emchwarriors who fire many more guns at the same time and even lasers who tick many times. a laseboat os propably causing the laod of 5 players or even more.

In my experience hit reg comes and goes. I can dual gauss a spider in mid air one match then shoot through a stationary one the next.
Last night I had three good matches all over 900 dam and multiple kills with lights in each one. Then I had several where I could not land a shot. The target lights, I see spray from the hit but no paper doll change. That's 30 dam per shot and it passes right through them.

It does seem to correlate to matches with lots of LRM's in the air or very hot fire intensive matches.

No rocket scientist when it comes to game mechanics so I haven't a clue why.

hitreg problems are worse in CW than normal matches, maybe it is due to the amount of brocken mechs lying around (yes they increased the despawn rate but still) and the smoke the generators, turrets and mechs create when being damaged / destroyed

on a second note I would really love to see to test server being brought up completely without HSR, just for a weekend if that was possible
"in the old days" you could always aim forward at the same pace if your ping was stable, now it's pointing at wonderland :(

MWLL handled 28 players without problems and had beam lasers too. Hit reg has never been a problem there.

Here we go. Cryengine MMO=bad is kinda a myth. There could be better engines for ultiplayer use but i cant imagine cryengine be that crap. It is a big player under the engines
