REVISED:

After some thought and a little scheduling work I have come up with a CF Schedule that I think is fair to everyone in every time zone...REVISED TO 7X7...7hour CF times spread over 7 days.

9X9 was faulty...my apologies. See the 7x7 schedule below. It will work for all time zones fairly.

(EST)

Day 1: 7am, 2pm, 9pm

Day 2: 4am, 11am, 6pm

Day 3: 1am, 8am, 3pm, 10pm

Day 4: 5am, 12pm, 7pm

Day 5: 2am, 9am, 4pm, 11pm

Day 6: 6am, 1pm, 8pm

Day 7: 3am, 10am, 5pm, 12am

(PST)

Day 1: 4am, 11am, 6pm,

Day 2: 1am, 8am, 3pm, 10pm

Day 3: 5am, 12pm, 7pm

Day 4: 2am, 9am, 4pm, 11pm

Day 5: 6am, 1pm, 8pm

Day 6: 3am, 10am, 5pm, 12am

Day 7: 7am, 2pm, 9pm

So how about it?

Put each planet on a different schedule so different ones are timing out at different times of day and this will enable each region to have their own fights that matter.

This is only complicated for those who can't do the math. It's a simple 9 hour rotation. There is nothing complicated about it. One match every 9 hours...how much more complicated is that tan 1 match every 8 hours? lol

No, I do math fine, but look at your own figures.

For 3 days out of 9, you have completely removed the involvement of US Primetime.
In all but two of them, you completely remove the ability of US PST to operate in the Hot Zone, but over half of those that you don't cut out US Prime Time completely, you've biased it for EST, more specifically YOUR playtimes.

I love you bro, but this is a terrible idea.

It's not biased at all. It will work out exactly the same for every time zone with different days having the same number of days each that do not work out for their Primetime. If you work it through every time zone the numbers will be about the same for everyone in the world. Go ahead and try it by picking any time zone you want anywhere in the world.

Really? Because I only see 2 days a week I'd bother playing being in PST, but if I was EST, I see 4 out of 9.

Man how screwed up is this system when the most you can hope for is 4 out of 9 or screw over large groups of people 100% of the time. They have to come up with a good reason for people to play during off hours and not just cbills or planet credits that get ghost dropped away.

Okay I re-evaluated and decided you were right, so I came up with a better simpler plan... 7x7....7 hour CFs over 7 days.

See below:

(EST)

Day 1: 7am, 2pm, 9pm

Day 2: 4am, 11am, 6pm

Day 3: 1am, 8am, 3pm, 10pm

Day 4: 5am, 12pm, 7pm

Day 5: 2am, 9am, 4pm, 11pm

Day 6: 6am, 1pm, 8pm

Day 7: 3am, 10am, 5pm, 12am

(PST)

Day 1: 4am, 11am, 6pm,

Day 2: 1am, 8am, 3pm, 10pm

Day 3: 5am, 12pm, 7pm

Day 4: 2am, 9am, 4pm, 11pm

Day 5: 6am, 1pm, 8pm

Day 6: 3am, 10am, 5pm, 12am

Day 7: 7am, 2pm, 9pm

So how about it?

How about a real time update system that once a planet's meter is full, the planet changes hands?

Because that fixes pretty much any issue.

Want simple? Try this.

Make the three combat windows a full 8 hours followed by the 40 minute cease fire. This way every day the combat windows rotate 2 hours.

Then if you start at 10pm pacific, it is over at 6am, kicking off again at 6:40am. This runs till 2:40pm and starts again at 3:20pm and goes to 11:20pm and starts over at midnight.

And that means as the zones "walk" different places get to fully participate in the hot zone and are not stuck in "garbage time" for more than 2 days in a row if that.

I also think planetary battles should be changed on achievement of best 2 of 3 in a 24 hour period.

Not a good option because it encourages more ghost drops during non- peak hours instead of actual fighting.

I think the solution is some type of consistent regular rotation like we are discussing. PGI will have to decide if it is something they want to do or not.

I think there was mention of adding a few minutes (15 minutes or so) to each CF time to create a rotating schedule. Maybe the current idea is just a trial run to see how things go before trying the progressive rotation or maybe they only have the programming in place for a static schedule and not an incrementally progressive schedule.

So hard.

3 x 8 hours works fine. What needs to change is the CF time.

Create a four hour window at the end of the 8 during which the CF will happen . . . but make it random. You know the CF will happen at some point in this window, but you never know exactly when.

In this way, you never know when your match might be the last, deciding match.

This has merits

It should also be easy for them to implement

I'm guessing here but the ceasefire mechanics probably have a hard timer right now. They can change their variables and set "7 hours" to rotate much easier than other suggestions regarding tickets for each planet etc.

It may work fine, but the 8 hour fixed rotation is exclusionary for many time zones in the world. I expect that the 40 minute CF time is hard capped at 40 minutes to allow the program to run. Programming the system to set a random 40 minute CF start time within a 4 hour window at the end of or during each 8 hour cycle is cumbersome. Having 7 hour cycles with 40 minute CF within each cycle should be easy to implement with the current programming and it gives everyone in the world the same number of convenient and inconvenient CF times each week.

If PGI can't figure out how to randomize within a 4 hour window I don't hold much hope that they can do anything to fix CW.
