I've just bought a new pc just for this game and have never played an online multiplayer game. I also bought a headset with microphone so I can comm with lancemates. My question is do I need software to make this work? I've read people in the forums refer to "Team Speak", and am assuming this is a comm program. I wasn't tech savy enough to try the old MW titles online so this is new territory for me. Any info would be most helpful.

By the way, good-on-ya for getting the gear you need for this game! It's so much nicer playing multiplayer games with team mates that have headsets and mics, it drastically improves communication over the keyboard and even over default speaker/webcam-mic.

Welcome to the world of online gaming, May your wife/girlfriend be understanding! Head sets are good if you live with other people. I use a 5.1 speaker setup an crank up the sound when gaming, but I have a room I use for my computer thats at the far end of my house. I have a desktop mic that I use, Teamspeak 3 has a nice function that will automaticly trun down your speaker volume when the mic is keyed so you dont get a bad feedback loop an the other people your talking to can understand what your saying.
One of the biggest things I have found about useing a mic an VoIP software over the years an use the PTT function (Press To Talk) Its where you asign a key that you have to hold down to talk threw your mic. A lot of people use the voice actvation for their mic an you will constily hear it key up in the background. One younger guy that use to play in one of my groups used this function, his Mom came he an started yelling at him about his homework or something. It was amuseing for us but very embarrassing for him.

To TyGer STD's point. Get a multi-button mouse (like 5 including the mouse wheel). Then you can assign your Push to Talk to a key on the side of the mouse where your fingers are anyways so you don't lose a digit you usually use on the keyboard or something. The ability to talk to your allies WHILE preforming all your normal tasks is essential.
