Greeting All,
I am still little confused about the Artemus Guidance System. If I recall it is suppose to help guide missiles more accurately to their target and group them closer so they aren't scattered all over the mech's body (or miss). I read that it only work in line-of-sight...um, why? If the regular system gets your payload to target while you are targeting them through a obstruction (building/mountain) you can fire over, why doesn't the artemus just enhance this? Does it only work like a TAG laser?
Also, it is a *guidance* system, it works with LRM systems as they are guided, why does it work with SRMs that are dumb-fire systems (ie no guidance) and it doesn't work with Streak SRMs that are a guided system?
I know that the SSRMS have a 100% hit rate (barring obstructions), but thought the Art would at least group them together better.
Also I thought that the answers might also help a newbie decide on weather to get it as it also adds 1 ton to any missile system, does that mean it does not add 1 ton to the streak if it doesn't work on it?
And one final question...does it group SRMs (using groups of 3 to 4 on my Victor and Battemasters currently), enough to be worth it?
Thank you for your insight!

1. That's just how artemis is.
2. It doesn't help guide SRMs but does tighten the spread.
3. Due to a technical bug in this game (SSRMs use the same lock-on code as LRMs), Artemis does improve lock-on time for Streak SRMs, but nothing else. It does not add 1 Ton to the launcher though.
4. It's a subjective answer. It does tighten the spread and make it easier to deal more damage to targets not right up in your face, but only if you can learn to aim it effectively since it's also easier to miss completely. Really only you can decide if it's worth it. Be warned that you will have to pay cbills to swap between no artemis or artemis. Also, you have to buy the launchers (they are separate inventory items now but you can of course swap and reuse them once you own them)

for LRMs
Artemus speeds locks, tightens the spread, focuses more of the damage on the torsos, more useful the more tubes you have, however it still provides a noticeable improvement on missile grouping on the LRM5, while it does provide a small bonus to indirect fire it works best if you can see the target.
for SRMs
Artimus tightens missile grouping, very useful on SRM6, not so useful on SRM2, SRM4 it can be useful depending on the Mech
for Streek SRMs
speeds up lock
an LRM15 is treated as diferant to an LRM15 with Artimus so if you upgrade a Mech with Artimus (or remove it) will probably need to purchase new launchers unless you already own some.
