I love my 4N. Not sure if I prefer it or my Misery as my favorite stalker at the moment.

My 5M is meh. Even with quirks, I haven't found something that is particularly awesome on it. Best loadout I've seen so far for it is 2 LPL, 3 SRM6, 1 ML. Runs fairly well and hurts up close, but the Misery and 4N do close range as well if not better, and also do long range better. (Range longer than 300M)

5S can mount 4 mediums 2 LP ans 4 srm 4... comfortably.

The 5S for me has always been my most powerful mech, It doesnt have the highest alpha, *76* but it has the armor and hitboxes and hardpoints to tank damage like a ****** boss

It kills anything bigger than it better than it kills things that are smaller actually, it can face tank a direwolf at close range, advance into the UAC5 barrage and then FINISH THEM and still have at least half a mech left.

STD 300 brings its speed up to 63, not dashing quick but by no means slow.

Err, whoops. And to think, I've not played EVE in years... :D

Since I relegated the 5M to be my main LRM boat, and the 4N is the laser boat, I've been trying various builds on the 3F. 4x ERLL worked well enough (it has a quirk to cut down on heat a bit). SRM24 wasn't much fun, as it still involved gettign way closer to the enemy than I am comfortable with in a Stalker. Now I've also tried 2x ERLL, 4x ML, LRM20 & SRM12. Mixed results, so far, but I don't really feel it.

I like the 3F a lot. It's my missle boat. I run the LRMs in chain fire. Here's my build. http://mwo.smurfy-ne...1a3e137259406a2

I run my 5M as a brawler. LRM 10s for the approach, SRM6s and MLasers for close work. I like it. :-) http://mwo.smurfy-ne...802a39c2c97f4b2

YMMV. Good Luck!

I love my stalkers!

All the variants these days are viable, builds can be a breaker, so it is wise to avoid the SRM's for example, and always try and play to the quirks on the mech, specially in the case of the stalker.

Buy them ALL! you won't be unhappy if you already like any stalker variant.

4N is great for LL builds and the 5M is very flexible for SRM builds. If you have a 3F, the 5S doesn't make too much sense unless you want to make use of the LPL quirks and Dual AMS.

If you want one that is specifically for lobbing LRMs, the 3H is a very solid choice as well with its 20 tube harpoints and LRM20 quirks. Combine that with 2 SRM6s and 4 MLas for a capable second-line supporter that can also pull its weight at short range.

Stalker is my favorite chasis as a whole. Honestly, you can't go wrong with either of those, although I strongly recommend the Misery like others have said. 4N is great for laser vomit-y builds and the 5M is amazing with that extra missile hardpoint. It all ultimately comes down to what you're looking for, but I firmly believe that there's no such thing as a bad Stalker. I'm personally aiming to pick up the remaining two that I don't own and master them as well so I can finish my collection.

Misery Question. Figure a stalker thread is the best place for this...

Has anyone ever run pulse lasers on a misery? the misery really does lack quirks, so a tiny laser duration is not a huge deal to loose, especially when pulse lasers are so quick anyway. Right now i am running 2 Large, along with a pair medium pulses to fire with my SRM6, and it seems to be working well, But i have to wonder if perhaps swapping to 2 large pulse instead would be a better option. Large pulse are the one module i don't own, so it is hard to envision it in it's full glory, SO i gotta ask, has anyone used Large pulses on this mech?

If not on the misery, have you used large pulses on the 5M, 3F, 3H?

I did notice the 5S has a minor large pulse quirk, and the 4N seems pretty interesting since quirks... So odd how much quirks have changed my view of different mechs.

The biggest strenght of the Misery is the Ballistic hardpoint. Any other weapon configuration can be done better by the C-Bill variants as they come with beneficial quirks. My best suggestion would be to base your build around a large ballistic weapon and build it from there. My personal design uses an LB 10-X in tandem with ASRM6 to give it some brawlish behavior.

It's oddball, but I'm having a lot of fun with and I have some engagement options without being too reliant on the ballistic weapons.

I actually think the 5S is the oddball stalker these days. The Misery has always been great (no Fang risk there I assure you). And while once universally reviled, the 4N is now thought to be a pretty capable mech.

I've got the STK-3F and will be getting the 5S when it goes on sale or when I have the time and money for it (whichever comes first). In the meantime, with the sale on, I'm looking to buy what would be the third Stalker variant and I'm having trouble deciding between the the 4N and the 5M.

I'll probably get the Misery at some point, but I'm not making the mistake I did with the Dragon, where I waited a year for the Fang to go on sale only to find that 1N was a better variant, thus wasting an entire year with my Dragons with only Basic skills unlocked*.

The 3H holds no appeal for me whatsoever.

The 4N has a good LL build that looks like it would fun, especially for ridge sniping. However, my concern is that because it's an energy build, it plays too similarly to the 5S' LPL build.

The 5M, on the other hand, has a good SRM boating build that also looks good, but is a much more close range build.

Any thoughts or advice? I suppose I could get both, but, even with Premium Time, I'd really have to grind those C-bills this week...

* ETA: The way I worded this has caused some confusion. I didn't mean to imply that the Misery is not as good as everyone says. What I meant is, I don't want to wait around for a sale on the Misery to be able to unlock the Elite skills on the Stalkers I do have.

I just got the N and the S.

N is a face burning beast, more so than the S. The S peeks a bit better and can...drive by...if you can call it that with the twist range? Its all about the short burn time.

I got the M as well. Havent run the SRM yet but comps seem to like it for brawling.
