Not a 'recruitment post' or anything like that. Not a who's better than who or anything of that sort. Just saying that if you're bored, frustrated or not enjoying CW in the Clan theater come spend a while in the Southern Sphere (Rimward for lore nerds).

It's a very different environment. Good sportsmanship is important and while we engage in some friendly trash-talk it's all in good fun. Conflicts tend to be pretty close; most worlds are won/lost with 1 or 2 victories. Take your pick; Marik, Liao or Federated Suns. We've all been shamelessly stealing tactics and methodologies from each other though we each have our own flavor and approach. Things are reasonably competitive and even pugging there are high expectations of teamwork and following drop command. This isn't about being HARDCORE but more about being respectful of everyone else you play with. Teamwork wins - everyone should be showing up to win so the hope is that even pugging everyone else is doing that too.

If you want to make an alt account or even just hop ship from Clanner life to Spheroid for a little while you're quite welcome. I strongly recommend getting on the faction teamspeak you're looking at or even just posting in the faction forum to get their contact info, pop in and ask what drop deck they'd recommend for you. We've all got systems in place to let you pop in and pug with organized units looking for folks and you won't find a team with any of us who wouldn't love to wrap you in, show you the ropes and help you get going. Play what you like obviously but organized, coordinated tactics are the standard around here for pug or premade and generally you'll have more fun if you're set up to run with your factions tactics and SOP.

IS vs IS like a very different game from the Clan border. If you're not enjoying things where you are consider a vacation in the sunny Southern Inner Sphere. This is a game - if you're not enjoying it then maybe a change of scenery for a bit can brighten that up for you. There's nothing wrong with and no shame in wanting a change of pace for a bit. If going back to pug/premade queue is doing that for you, great. If you've tried that and find it wanting but are not enjoying where you are now, come down here and play without worrying about mucking things up for the sibkos back home.

Come play with us. It's a lot of fun down here.

Red hot IS on IS action is pretty fun and the most balanced fights you'll find in this game. Also you have about 50% less balance whines, and faction people don't lose their mind when somebody from an enemy faction "dares to attack" them despite pg 242 of Battletech: The Wars of Butthurtedness saying that Faction X would never attack Faction Y!

We have the occasional cross-border dispute between allies but it's cool. We don't really have balance complaints and tactics tend to be rather complex, especially with groups vs groups. You also need to understand that losing all 3 ogens in wave 1 isn't uncommon when defending - also you need to be really aggressive, attack or defend, just aggressive in an organized way.

Not saying it's better or anyone is better than anyone else though. Just want to say 'Come play down south. We'd love to have you. Play with you, play against you, win or lose it's all good so long as everyone shows up and gives 100%'.

Thank you for this invitation, I may reconsider it once I get rank 20. Whole new environment with different Mechs and different people... might be refreshing.

I'm totally for this.

Like Mischief said, we're not trying to recruit away from anyone, we'd just love to see the northern borders have as much fun as we do.

It's sunny and warm in the Southern IS this time of year, and the borders are always fun. Maybe we can learn new things from you as you learn new things from us and we all expand our game more.

Take a week or two, rotate down, the Clan wars will still be there when you go back.

:D

Warm Regards,

Nope we're trying to recruit you. I mean, Liao is. Actively trying to recruit every single dude who is DTF (down to fight) for mad cash monies. You want to get paid? Get Liao. You want semi-decent matches where you win but sometimes you go like "oh, man, we almost didn't win, but we did, because Davions are bad?" Get Liao. Come get Liao, have fun, make big cash bonuses.

Do you care about flipping pixel planets from green pixels to yellow pixels? Join Davion.

Do you not really care about flipping pixel planets? Do you want a unit tag on a planet to mean "damn, these guys are good" and not "damn, we've got 6x as many players?" Join Liao.

Join Liao. Have fun. Make mad cash bonuses. Know your enemy ahead of time, every time, because it's gonna be the child soldiers of Davion and they are going to be petulant children.

IS Liao: Hard Mode, Done Right.

Also when you school someone in the IS, nobody can say "oh no, it's because your mechs are OP." Instead, all they can say is "lol get a life do something other than MWO gossshhhhh" as you roflstomp across their bodies.

Also truthfully my understanding is we have more fun, I have heard this reliable intelligence from the FLJK WoL fifth column Clan Mineral Animal that just did SJ for a while and won a lot.

Join Liao, and fight alongside the noble Birdwarriors of Ketatoa. That alone should be enough encouragement, but also, 100k match reward for a win without premie time, 150k with, and that's before all the cash monies from wrecking Davs.

I started Davion, flipped to Wolf and my next stop is either Liao or Kurita.

From a Lore Point of View...

Cool Liao things.
Death Commandos.
Warrior Houses.

Cool Kurita Things.
Ghost Regiments.
Space Samurai.

Gah... I know I'll make a stop by for Kurita when my Panther finally drops in the game.

From a lore point of view, Liao has more to offer, such as being the morally ambiguous space guys. Are they actually bumbling idiot villains, or does Stackpole just love America that much that he has written the Space Communists as just the absolute worst?

I'll admit, I'm not a huge BT grognard etc. It's a fun IP but I didn't grow up with it, I played MW2 a few times but never immersed myself in the lore. I think the lore is the 80s-est thing out there, and it's pretty awesome. And stompy robots battling each other? Savage as hell. But I will always pick an underdog because an underdog is fun to play as.

It's like why there's no games that let you play the Falklands War, because being the UK and steamrolling mostly unarmed civilians for Her Majesty is lame gameplay. The Mighty Ducks would've been a pretty lame movie if the Hawks just brushed them off like the scrubs they were.

Liao is fun to play exactly because we're not the space-America mary sues who embody all that is Good and Right and Just and Freedom. Liao is the Space Second World, full of good ideals but Stackpoled into villainy.

And it's good.

Also Liao is the chosen roost of the Noble Tetetae Birdwarriors of Lowtax, and so association with Liao is Cool and Fun by default.

But since this isn't a recruitment thread, I will float out there generally that all of the IS on IS action fronts are a lot of fun.

Why would anyone who's interested in skilled PvP ever want to play people that have been too scared to queue up north since CW began? No one interested in combat with some kind of consequence wants to waste time down there, fighting units that can't even capture planets. The best units in the game are up north, southern CW warfare is easy mode, hence the mass exodus from the Zerg Faction.

Sorry, definitely not interested.

If you come down here to play, then good people will be down here to play, right? I mean, if you're interested in skilled PvP, then presumably you're skilled at PvP, so where you play is where the skilled PvP is, so "north" and "south" don't matter so much.

But then again if pro level try hard skilled PvP is your bag then clearly you only need the best robots available so you should probably stay clanning because a professional internet robot shooter should only have the best robots or they're not competitive.

Honestly, I don't agree that the most skilled people are all up on the North Side of the map.

The Southerners seem to have found ways to solve battle problems that Clanners are still complaining about on the forums.

Not about who's better or anything like that. Well, except for Liao. Being the smallest IS faction they have some, well, size issues. Not trying to judge but.... yeah. Tiny, stubby little IS Faction. The massive, massive size of Davions Faction has always made them feel uncomfortable and awkward and jealous. In fact their Faction gets smaller every time there is a big enough group of Davions around. They've been complaining since the beginning that we were too big and it's wasn't fair. We hear that a lot.

Which is part of why I'm saying come play down south for a bit. We just teasing, there's no bad blood involved just having some fun. If you're active in your Clan and you're having fun and engaged then awesome. You're doing what CW is supposed to do.

If you're not having fun though and not really playing CW any more because you're not enjoying what it plays like (it's too repetitive, it's boring, there's no challenge, it's all the same) then come take a spin down south. The meta changes about every 2 days. Sometimes twice in the same day. I can guarantee you every match doesn't play out the same - you'll have a different meta all 4 waves in the same match more often than not. Rush ogens, attrition out specific enemy mechs and if possible players, slow advance to damage omega, try to draw enemy out for a fight in the valley beyond the gates and rush 3 lights in for turret clearing, etc. etc. etc.

It's not the same game as the Clan front. If you're enjoying the Clan front that's awesome. Stay, play, have fun. If you're not, try down south. If I get totally bored of CW I've got Clan mechs or can make an alt account. I might roll north and play supervillains for a while.

CW should be fun though and we have fun down here. If you're like me the pug/premade queue has lost a lot of shine. You don't have to go back to the trenches; you can vacation somewhere else that's not pissing in the Cheerios of your actual permanent faction, get your groove back on and return home refreshed and ready to Clan back up.

Just going to point this out but during one of the Succession wars Davion actually had an award presented to troops who defeated House Liao troops in battle. It was called "The Limp Sword Flag" which was basically the house Liao sword at um... half mast as it were. At the time the leader of House Liao was having "problems" fathering a child.. so the insult had two meanings.

My contract status is permanent to reflect my loyalty to my clan and unit.

I don't know if things will change with the upcoming patches though but the popularity of CW in the past 10 days compared to the first 10 days is not even remotely the same. Long queues and being forced to play with PUGs seems to have chased a lot of people away until the game is more complete: more maps, logistics, etc.

I know that except for the passt few days on the Marik/Davion border the queue times havent been too bad. At least not after 6PM EST.

The wolves are the Kings of the North... but looking at the CW map the Red Wedding has already happened. :(
