I would LOVE to play for the Magistracy of Canopus, but doubling the number of factions wouldn't help the game at this point.

Anyone else feel like the Periphery States could have been added?

If you want to play an underdog, go help out the FRR. The periphery doesn't have much going for it, atleast that would make me notice it. I'd much rather see ComStar as a playable faction, but not really looking to the Word of Blake nutjobs.

No.
Not that it wouldn't be fun, but lets find out if there are enough people to represent the core factions first. I don't really see the PSs as underdogs, more like third world countries run by crazy dictators.

While all the real countries slug it out with each other, they play in their little sandbox lol

Games not even out yet and it offers more factions than most games plus Lone Wolf and Mech Corps who can play for all factions.
Anymore is a lot to ask for right now.

No. They're an option for later, but too many factions thins out the base factions. Implementing them in software and as a part of the metagame doesn't really enhance the game much.
Besides, they're vastly weaker than the great houses, and could potentially be completely overrun...

Just a thought, but you're all right. Keep it simple starting off.
