This may be an old thought, but still I wanted to bring this up. Inner Sphere Battlemechs, whether in PUG drops or CW drops should identify Clan Mech through their IS designations. For example, an Inner Sphere pilot uses a Battlemaster while fighting with or against a Timber Wolf. Instead of being called "Timber Wolf TBR-PRIME", the mech would be known as "Mad Cat MDC-Prime". While a Warhawk recognizes the mech as a "Timber Wolf TBR-PRIME". It does give the Omnimechs a lore-wise feel and makes sense because the IS nations do not fully know what the mechs are called.

Just like the Clan Trailer:

IS Names and Abbreviations:

Daishi- DAI
Masakari- MSK
Man O' War- MOW

Mad Cat- MDC
Thor- THR
Loki- LOK
Vulture- VLT

Ryoken- RYK
Fenris- FNS
Black Hawk- BHK

Puma- PUM
Koshi- KSH
Uller- ULR

As nice and immersive as that would be for the IS players, I don't think it is something we should have the Devs work on while they are still flushing out CW and in the process of introducing new mechs.

I'm in no rush either, but it is a cool feature that I would love to see in the future.

wouldn't the IS pilots actually know the names of the clan mechs by now?
in the RPG/table top games I try my best to know all of the classics like the Ebon Jaguar(any clanner should know this machine ;) ).

I don't know why but I like the fact that both IS & Clans show the real name of the mechs.

Well game-wise yes, but lore-wise no. Since it is the year 3050 currently, these Omnimechs are new machines at the time, so the IS really did not know what to call them. So they made up these nicknames either out of reputation like the Dire Wolf's nickname of "Daishi" (Japanese for "Great Death") or their appearance like the Mad Dog's nickname of "Vulture" or "Hagetaka" (Japanese version of the former) due to its bird-like stature.

Speaking of game-wise, I find it amusing on the Clan Packages that the Omnimech Bundles use IS designations, but shows the Clan real names when you view the details.

that is true Will.
like the MadCat is the combo of Marauder and Catapult.
though I keep forgetting that it is only 3050
I would prefer that they would make it an option to toggle IS or Clan when it comes to the names.

problem is it would confuse the hell out of non hard core players. THis is a hard enough game to get into as it is

@Firewuff
I agree though I was kind of worried that when I started playing I would see the IS names and not the real name of the mechs like you see in the older MW/MC games that was based around the IS side of things.

to be honest I like the clan names so much better than the IS ones.

some didn't even fit like Loki & Thor.

the Hellbringer looks more like a Warhammer than what ever foolishness went into the reason behind calling it loki

I wouldn't want to be "forced" to see the names, but I wouldn't mind if there was an option. However, I don't view this as a high priority.

@Banditman
I agree, I wouldn't mind as long as it wasn't forced on us.

That would actually be cool if this feature was toggleble for the casual players and role-players.

In general yes, but some of the suggested codes aren't available anymore (although I don't see any of the affected mechs added to the game soon...)
MSK: Mackie (2439-2576)
THR: Thunder (3055-3083)

Would be cool.

I feel like there's a ton of little bits that aren't huge changes that could give the world more flavor:

For Example:
Put some lore in the loading screen along side the loading tips
Give equipment a brand name

Etc.
