Title says all.

Bought a Mad Dog C, thinking I would be able to use the Omnipods for a drop deck in CW on 4 Mad Dogs. Boy was I wrong. I bought a Timberwolf A la Carte, and Clan Wave 2, and when I recieved those mechs, all omnipods were available for cbills and I could purchase as many as I want, and switch them around as I pleased.

So what gives? What changed? I already knew it was an overpriced rip off to begin with, but now this slap in the face to a loyal paying customer who has almost all of the hero mechs and 94 mechs total in game? What gives PGI? Do you honestly think im going to open up my wallet again after this?

If you guys decide to unlock the omnipods for the cash buyers, and quickly, I might open up my wallet again. If it doesnt happen, cbills for life here. I am so disappointed in PGI right now.

Test this for me.

Take the pods off the new mech, throw them on another variant.

Try buying the pods off the new variant again. I've been told that works. Double check for me.

Just be sure to buy off the proper variant. I've also heard people can't put the new pods on the old variants. So many different stories.

Yeah did all that when I bought it. It definitely does not work with the Mad Dog C. You are stuck with 1 set of C omnipods and thats it.

Pictures are necessary here for proof.

I'm sure PGI will get right on it...

Maddogs with ballistics... is a terrible waste IMO.

Good point. Ill see if I can get pictures up. BTW you know you can have a 20% cooldown ballistic in 1 arm and up to 3 lasers in the other arm right? How is that a waste for a 60 ton mech with almost as much pod space as a Timber? No other clan mech has 10% cooldown quirk for ballistics.

I thought of that it sounded great on paper.

I lose my ballistic arm much easier - plus the frustration of a high cockpit and low arms makes me not want to attempt basic sniping... because I'd lose a side torso in the process.

Well it def works. I run Gauss + 2 er large, TC1, and you can add DHS for pug matches and more ammo for CW. The Mad Dog's arms are not mounted low. They are higher than the Crow's, Hellbringer's, Summoner's and the Timber. You have 44 armor in the ballistic arm with the quirk. The High mounted Cockpit is great for visibility.

They aren't "low" as in Nova-low, but for the sake of defending the Nova (a tragedy of its own), the cockpit level is mostly at the same level as its arms.. and so I don't experience nearly as much shooting the hills as I do the opfor. The Maddog's high cockpit is more beneficial when it comes to missiles.

I find that I have to be "at the same level" as the target if I'm going to get my shots done reliably... which is very suboptimal for me.

I used to make fun of Clan ballistics, but I've actually had considerable success with one CUAC20 on my Mad Dog. Sounds weird, I know. But it's crazy how much damage that thing does if the dice are with you. A 15% cooldown sounds like it would be worthwhile.

I do wish they gave the Mad Dog C-variant ballistic hardpoints in the side torsos, as it's supposed to have. It doesn't really have enough weight to carry dual gauss with good amount of ammo anyway, but at least you could combine some smaller ballistic in the side torsos with 4 lasers in the arms. A ballistic + missile combo on the Mad Dog is just stupid, because those are the least weight-effective weapons. It would have been super awesome if we could have 4 energy hardpoints in the arms and 3+3 ballistic hardpoints in the STs. You could equip 2xCUAC5, 4xMG in the torso and 4xCERML in the arms.

Actually missile and ballistic combos on clan mechs is doable, due to the low weight of the clan weapons. Well you can run 3 missiles in one torso and get 5% cooldown for ballistic in the other torso. Opens up some missile/ballistic options.

What idiot told you it's "supposed" to have torso ballistic mounts? The Gauss Rifles go in the arms, have since 1990.

I agree. Gauss is always best in the arms anyway, pinpoint damage, and if your a good shot, pinpoint accuracy. You just cant pull off some shots if its in the torso.

I'm sure that's exactly what they think.
Based on the fact that you keep buying this stuff, they're probably right.

Well this is the first time I have really been disappointed. Cant get the new variants with MC, the price is too high, and you dont get the omnipods unlocked. This is a really lame epic fail on their part.

Well, what would you put in it? Something like this?

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...f68157090b53694

You end up with limited ammo, low alpha strike and low DPS.

Someone posted a picture of a Mad Dog table top model with gauss rifles in the side torsos.

I don't know if they were an idiot though. Maybe just ignorant of Battltech tabletop. But otherwise a good person.

The Gauss Rifles have been arm mounted since 1990.

Now, by table top canon, it is possible to put them in the torsos, but there are no Mad Dogs in canon that do this.

There was also a stray piece of art that for some reason put large ballistics (likely Gauss) in the side torsos. This is likely a result of a line in the mech's description stating that the lack of the iconic missile pods in the side torsos radically changing the machine's appearance.
