The equation for the Blazer is get a large laser, then double the heat and critical slots, multiply the damage by 1.5 and the weight by 1.8, resulting in the stats they have in BattleTech. If you use MWO large laser stats, you get 14 heat, 4 critical slots 13.5 damage, 9 tons and -most importantly- uses just one energy hardpoint. It's fair to expect that you should be able to fire 2 Blazers without ghost heat.

But some held doubt in their hearts, and to them Urbie spake "Have an AC/10 shell to the face", and he smote them down with great fury and terrible vengeance. And again the people rejoiced, for it was good.
Thus endeth the sermon. Amen and pass the ammo.

Really? Can't remember seeing a MS dev dancing around out of joy because he could invent and add the Uziel or Thanatos.

and with current mwo mechanics it would be a 1.7 beam duration as well. so probably totally poop

There's no beam duration in TT so chances are a Blazer will have the same duration as an IS large laser (there are no Clan Blazers), which is 1.0

If anything, since the Blazer's role was to be more pinpoint than 2 LL used individually, it would make sense for the Blazer to have a shorter duration than the regular LL.

Maybe 0.8 or 0.75? In any case, they wouldn't add it if wasn't a viable weapon -and it could be.

They cant get a grip on whats going on now.. why in hades would we want more broken game mechanics?
How about we stop the boating, pin point meta then talk about new crap to F up.

I don't think the forums have offered a real alternative, though. 30 heat cap is a completely arbitrary number. Nothing about the TT heat scale transfers to MWO. And heat in TT was completely broken anyway. A low heat cap will restrict build options far more than the current ghost penalties.

That's kinda the point. I keep referring to closed beta when there was only single heat sinks and no endo steel. You couldnt fit a lot, and definitely couldn't fire everything at once. Brawling was a thing, it was impossible to 1 to 2 shot a mech, and holy hell was it the most fun I ever had with this game. Lowering the heat capacity is definitely the way to go, and probably increasing cool downs on certain weapons like PPC's and AC20's and Gauss that are supposed to have cooldowns of up to like 8 seconds normally. Yes it will restrict builds, yes people will have to give up their meta high alphas and actually build mechs that rely on having a range of weapons instead of boating all the same weapon for high alphas, yes it will take time, change the game, and might be some work in balancing everything out again. But it would be SO worth it, and would bring MechWarrior back instead of this counter strike play style we have now. I'd be ready to rebuild all of my mechs if these changes came into play.
