Can anyone see the parallels?'

From what I understand after the star league left the inner sphere, that resulted in infighting and a decline in weapons

In MWO the infighting before the arrival of the Clan resulted in nerfed weapons and a loss of technology (namely Radar)

Now that CW has started we see the results, the only thing that did not get nerfed (much) are the IS lights

And they are the one thing saving the IS

I only started last June but my 5 AC2 Jager was deadly and a whole lot of fun but that went down the tubes

My TW with its 3 UAC5s’ is close but its pretty easy mode

LRMs’ I would guess used to be deadly but I wasn’t around
What other weapons would make a difference if they hadn't nerfed them?

  • PPCs/ERPPCs with their original 8/13 heat and no ghost, as well as their 1500 m/s projectile speed.
  • Gauss sans charge mechanic and without the link limits.
  • AC/2 with its faster rate of fire and 3x range.
  • AC/5 with its faster rate of fire and 3x range and faster projectile velocity.
  • AC/20 with 3x range and lower ghost heat.
  • AC/10 with 3x range
  • ER Large Laser with 1 second duration and 720 m base range
  • Streak SRM2 homing in on the CT
We did see some buffs, though. The Medium laser got a duration buff, the Small got a range buff. All of the pulse lasers received heat buffs, with the Small and Large pulses seeing both range and damage buffs,too. The Large pulse did get a very tiny duration nerf, though it had a net increase in DPS due to the previously mentioned damage buff.The only IS laser that was truly nerfed was the ER Large, having its range reduced to 675 a long time ago and having its duration increased to 1.25 seconds more recently.

And then, of course, there are the quirks. The frequency that a lot of the quirks show up, though, sort of tells me that a global buff should have been used instead. -10% Energy Heat Generation is rather prolific. +10% Energy Range is also common.

The way I look at it it's like asking "is the film of the book the same as the book?". Nope, never will be: because it's presenting it in a different format.

Its a different game format, so there are going to be differences. Which isn't to say it wouldn't be nice for PGI to do all it can to keep things as close to the Lore, just that it can't because of the differences.

Well the medium and small lasers got nerfed very early on with an extra point of heat on both.

I forgot about that one. I wasn't here for both the original implementation of Ghost Heat or that particular change.

Seems a lot of said changes were made in just the last year. The game feels totally different when I compare how it is now to how it was last February.
