The Urbie has been announced and I truly believe it could be a GREAT addition to this game with some good design.

Ostensibly it should be tiny, commando sized or so. With as good hitboxes as can be designed for it. Just a small annoying, hard to see hard to hit mech thats opportunistically plinking people. Hopefully with great torso twist speed and arm elevation.

However it's going to need some quirk love to give it viability.

They already said that it would be receiving a 360 degree turret turn quirk. That is a good start but it needs some drastic quirks in addition to truly make it fearsome.

I personally think that a quirk which lowers the minimum heatsinks required to drop would be a panacea. Urbie don't need more then 5 heatsinks.

Alternatively, double ammo bin capacity would also work to push the Urbie over the top.

Now would be a really kewl time for my heretical idea of moving all 10 base heatsinks into the engine and increasing engine tonnage correspondingly, so that sub-250 engines would no longer take up more critical slots than 250+ engines. And so that sub-100 engines aren't negative in tonnage...

Activating preemptive flameshield!

360 degree torso twist.

Rapid fire AC-10 to fire as fast as an AC-5.

Jump Jets that literally let it hover.

I thought the whole point of the urbie was that it was terrible? Like Jigglypuff in Smash Bros. Quirks that make it scary (as opposed to unique) make it redundant.

I hope it's decent for the sake of this forum. Can you imagine if it was released in a sub-viable state? The website would die from the flood of tears.

Its 30 tons correct? That means it should be larger than a Locust and Commando.... (profile wise)..

Also while the stock version will have a 60 Engine (first time in the game)... Russ hinted that they are not sure about max engine size and that it might go as fast as a Spider can....

Well... honestly the Urbie was made for urban combat above all against infantry/guerrilla/rebels or vs light mechs.
Top speed 32,4.
Just curious about the quirks... but... I would like to pilot it even without, just for the lol trashcan lore.
I hope PGI won't try to make it competitive. I want it tier 6!

If they make if viable then they have removed the main reason people love the Urbanmech.

It doesnt need any quirks, what it needs is a MM that puts together teams made exclusively of Urbies, and drops them on small maps, like River City.

If it isn't slower than the Panther will be then I will be sorely disappointed.
