Collision encouraged teammates to actually watch their spacing, and it gave the game a sense of weight and physicality that it completely lacks now.

The 'dragon bowling' tactics that come up anytime collision is suggested are really not valid anymore.

Back when we were dragon bowling, we were using single heatsinks.

There has been so much power creep since then, the TTK is through the floor.

If somebody tries to charge into your team, they'll be dead or critical before they knock any of your boys down.

Collisions are not the same as knockdowns.

I can relate to what you are saying, but just wanted to point that out, since good collision code also helps with inadvertent collisions and mechs then reacting by bouncing around and/or teleporting, where they shouldn't be and so on.

It would also be nice to see inverse kinematics make a comeback with improved collision code.

What is truly sad is, even if PGI brought collision back, my Highlanders can't jump high enough with those hoverjets to do their signature move. Sigh...

This is an absolutely important distinction to make, that most of the forums seems to interchange constantly. Speaking of which, I'd like to know if Russ was making this mixup or not when he mentioned them in the Townhall.

For those who are guilty of this (not you):

Collision: Broad term for what occurs when two objects come into physical contact. There can be various different effects.
Knockdown: Specific event where one or more units can no longer stand upright, and are pushed to lying down on the floor instead.

They need to change JJs to actually make distance jumps and not just hover into the air

Seems to me he was talking more about collisions. He mentioned the importance of mechs scraping into one another but I don't think he ever mentioned knockdowns. Did my heart good hearing him pining for collisions again.

Hope collision will make those tiny teammates at my feet to actually go around my Whale instead of clipping through it--and causing damage. I already punished few of their leg armors for the transgression. Next time I will blast the leg off.
