I am here to suggest that Assault Mode be more About Killing the other team and not capturing bases.

My suggestion to Fix this "problem" is to instead change the bases to Communication towers.

When you capture or "hack" the enemy communication tower it reveals All enemy locations weather they are On or Off.

the option to re-capture or "encrypt" your communication tower could be possible.

The Mode would then be Eliminate the enemy team only and the bases are there only to assist in this idea.

Ironically that would promote even more capping. Every single light would always rush the cap.

The light would get a bonus but it doesn't end the game.
I'm not preventing capping i'm preventing a no one kills each other and everyone is capping the base moment that make it less fun.
Also it prevents Trolls from hiding and powering down in the corner

I feel where you are coming from, but like Names said, it will just lead to more/faster capping. On the plus side it would no longer win them the game, but it would give a pretty big advantage and force the enemy team to form a clump somewhere as anyone that strayed from the group would be taken out fast. This sounds like a fun game mode, I'd definately like to play it, but it's not what I would like to see assault changed into. And you also have to consider that there are people that like Assault like this, granted most of them are probably light pilots that group into a premade and swarmcap, but they have a right to their happiness too I guess, it might be the only way they can win and feel like they are "l33t g@m3rz."

What I would like is a new/different game mode. Conquest/Assault are basically the same thing, stand in the square long enough to win or actually fight enemies. The only difference is the amount of time and squares, so it's getting really old to me. I want to play MechWARRIOR, not MechSTANDER. Thankfully they mentioned testing a Skirmish mode, which I really hope will not include any bases, and just maybe one day we will get a 1v1 option for duels/training.

The only thing that I would like to see in Assault mode is them getting rid of the bases, but then that's Skirmish lol. I'll vote that it's a good concept, but not perfect, mostly because it would add a much needed new element and interesting tactics to the game. :P

i suuprort the Idea and honestly it doesnt matters much to know where the ennemys are. It will give you an advantage but you wont instantly win.

I totally support his idea

the only reason we have dozens of threads about this kind of thing is because we have two (one) game mode. I'm not on board with supporting "fixes" the current game modes. They are fine the way they are. If you want to suggest this as a new game mode I'd be all for it though

If you're going to do this then the communication towers should be guarded by turrents so a single light mech can't just rush in and capture it.

It would take several light mechs or a single mech would have to destroy the turrents first alerting the enemy team and giving them time to respond.

Light mechs rushing the bases is already ruining assault mode and I feel this would make it even worse. They shouldn't give light mechs too much control over the battlefield.

Light mechs are supposed to be scouts and harassers. They should find the enemy, then report back to the rest of their team. I don't think they are meant to dominate the battlefield. If they could reveal the entire enemy team without even having to go find them, all anyone would ever play is lights and fast mediums.
