I just played a game where I was being shot but I could not tell. I died and looked back and I had been getting hit, but I was not being given any worthwhile feedback that I was getting hit. I consider that a major FAIL on PGI's part. You have to let us know if our mech is taking damage . This is fundamental. So basic to gameplay I can't believe I even have to bother writing this post.

This is why listening to death metal while playing makes you not notice things.

That flashing red on your little mech doll is telling you you are getting hit from that direction, it's not the encore flame for another song.

eh.. I get false positives all the time in this game.

I hear PPC or Gauss or an AC shell hit me, I see the spark, and even the damage rose popup, and there will be nothing on my armor.

Its always amazing when I can sit behind an assault and take his CT to red before he notices.... Most players are not very aware of their surroundings....

No, your screen "Always" flashes red when you are receiving damage.....

MW2 had a rear view monitor, MWO has screen flash....

In OP's defense- Especially on an off server like Oceania, it doesn't always register, and sometimes you get a red flash seconds later, or not at all. All it takes is the indicator to miss one alpha for you to wonder where all your ST armor ran off to

I know what the OP means, I have the same thing occasionally:

Just yesterday I had the following:
I stand in a nice spot, sniping stuff.
No sound, no red HUD indicator (you can't really miss those).
But my paperdoll lit up from undamaged blue to yellow all over the mech.
Turned out it was an arty strike on my position.
My bad for not catching it / standing too long.
But the game's fault is that it didn't play any sounds or damage indicators.

I have that on occasion when getting shot by Mechs, too.
Maybe since June or July or so.

I run into this problem all the time. Soo frustrating!!!! I've died without ever getting any notification of damage. The issue is either massive lag or HSR!

I find that if I don't get any damage feedback, it's when I'm literally being shot in the back.

No, it doesn't always flash. And it doesn't always play hit sounds. You know, lasers melting armor, ballistic rounds blasting you. That's the point of this thread.

It's like a camera flash in the cockpit.

As people said, the red indicator.

Also, always look at the paper 'Mech doll on the lower left when you're being damaged. It'll tell you exactly where you're taking damage. The indicator can sometimes be incorrect.

Yeah, one time was on caustic valley with the shadowcat. Yolo'd into it with heavy metal playing. I got skinned but it was some goddamn madness. They were so preoccupied with me that my team took the hint and pushed too.... it reminded me of how not to brawl in a lighly armored mech. ;)

Also OP do you even have sound for the game? Or are you that slow, sorry if I'm sounding rude but this.....

HAS GOT TO BE ONE OF THE MOST REDICULOUS THINGS I'VE SEEN ALL DAY.

(Like everyone is saying, can you not hear the lasers burning through the armor? Or even ballastics?)

Sometimes there is a bug (maybe it's intentional, idk) where the only damage feedback is the paperdoll. No sound, no red. This happens to me sometimes if I am standing still and someone hits me with a laser and does not move the laser at all.

You all might want to go back to post #13 and read it. Here I'll quote it for you.

Yeah, except the times when none of that happens. It's been well known for a while now that there are times when you get hit and there's no indication of being fired upon other than the flashing paper doll.

I haven't noticed the problem as much as I used to before but it still happens from time to time.

Would be nice to have a slider for stupid people. Have the screen flash completely red when you are taking fire with the slider set on max and have an ear splitting klaxon.....
