Hey guys. Just got the Raven 3L due to that tournament.
So, I'm wondering, what's a decent build? I don't have the c-bills to change the engine. So, what can I do with it if I've got endo-steel, ferro, and an XL-295?
I've never piloted a light before, so this is a very new experience. Would love some suggestions.

buy two more, the 3L really (badly) needs elite (and master slot).
2 ErLL + ECM (hot build)
don't play it like a light, more like a (mobile) gaussjäger so to say. take advantage of the high arm mounted weapons. pop out, sniper, dive under, relocate, repeat.
have fun, it's a very old mech/build for a reason.

With the stock engine (XL295), you can do a couple of nice things.
Pay attention to the armour values with these:
1 - RVN-3L - Sniper <twin ER Large>
2 - RVN-3L - Assassin <SRM4s + Small Pulses>
3 - RVN-3L - Narcbot <Narc + Medium Pulses>
4 - RVN-3L - Kinda Wub <Large Pulse + Medium Lasers>
The standard/most common build is number 1 there.
Number 2 is my personal favourite.
Number 3 ... the Narc is the important part. The weapons you put on it are up for debate, but I like three MPL.
Number 4 is a fun little medium-range poker. It's almost like having twin Large Pulse Lasers.
I personally advise against any builds that use Streak SRMs because Streaks are just really weak. The clans have better streaks and Innersphere Streak 2's just don't bring enough to the table to be worth the tonnage imo. I would also avoid SRM6's because they spread out a lot and you can't deal concentrated damage with them, plus it's a slow reload time. Also, if you do end up using Narc at all, I would invest in the Narc weapon module. It's really important to making Narcs more effective.

I love the sniper build. The ravens speed with the ecm cover, long range, and in my case, a little camo to help blend in make it a force to be reckoned with. This is a match that shows just how effective it can be:
