Why do UACs and CUACs jam when you don't try to double tap them??
Seems like every time I try to just take one shot (pull the trigger once) the UAC's jam
and for CUACs to constantly jam, when not double tapping....what is the incentive to take one over a regular CAC?

Clan ACs should not exist.
LB-Xs can switch ammo to fire regular shells and the shotgun shells. PGI just can't figure out how to make its switch reliably so thus why we have CACs in the first place.
Now I believe all UACs have a jam chance. regardless if you fire one shot or double tap. I believe the double tap just increases that chance greatly. I've double tapped a few times without jamming,

You are still double tapping. CUACs don't jam if you don't double tap.
I have an idea of what is going on.
Sometimes a double tap seems like a single tap, because of an audio feedback issue.
With CUAC2s and CUAC5s, the double tap tends to not make any noise. That, combined with the constant stream of projectiles, causes a double tap to seem like a single tap.

This bug has been around forever, first UAC shot = jam. I'm not sure why this still exists but it does. sucks if you only have 1 UAC, when you have 4 it isn't much of an issue!

an this is why i never use an CUAC an nots not counting the extra slugs it fires Vs an CAC

The UACs have had a history of jamming on the first shot, even though they aren't supposed to by PGI's own description of the jamming mechanism...but supposedly they have never been able to duplicate it as far as I know.
Now that I think about it, I wonder if the code is counting all shots, including those from other UACs being fired on the mech? That little bug may explain why it would never come up I testing of a single UAC. Alpha'ing multiple UACs might be triggering the jam, even without the double tap.
