Only took me 50 to get the 3D. The other matches was when I was leveling it and the 1x. 110 number is from the entire weekend.

Probably like the game this morning.

On caustic, the enemy has no less than 5 pure LRMers, my team quite literally stood in the caldera and got missiled one by one, I couldn't get them to so much as peak. Seriously that many missiles they CAN NOT brawl, there is no way in hell.

...couldn't get them to move, they told me to go play DOA, lost that one 4-12, surprise.

The Victors challenge was better than this one in my opinion. Having to survive made people play better than usual, this one made people play worse for a while (on Friday and Saturday at least).

I want to see a challenge that isn't time/grind based. This one could be done with enough time and for some people was a challenge, but for the half of the population with positive K/D ratio it was just a dull grind. Give us a challenge that's like get 2 kills and win in 3 matches. Then you have to play like a beast to live long enough and do DPS long enough to down 2 mechs. Wouldn't be a grind, and when you get a point it's because you did more than suicide in and trade 1 for 1.

Took me 85 matches with some of them deep deep in the night where I lost every match. Don't play when too tired was what I learned. That was friday, 15 points that evening.
On saturday, it all went really smooth and without frustration, maybe because I thought plenty of time and if you lose one it won't matter.
And that was the key, keep call and kill. Worked ;)

Started in my mediums I need to level and after that switched to King Crabs to "level" them to 43k XP. One is meta with dual gauss and dual PPCs and the other my LRM boat from CW.
I came to the same conclusion as you, if you want something done right, do it yourself. I made 4 kills in a hunch and 600 damage and we still lost because the assaults hunted squirrels. The Meta crab really helped there.

And hell, that thing earned me money, hero bonus, premium time and kills kills kills.... B)

Start 1st Day:

Oh, this should be fun, I've always wanted a Cataphract too.

End 1st Day:

Well, I got 7 points, I'll have 2 more days so...

End 2nd Day:

I only got 2 points today, holy ****, maybe tomorrow...

3rd Day 6 hours in:

I ******* give up, this is god damn impossible, only 11 points so far

3rd Day 10 hours in:

I kept playing, 17 god damn points huh?

3rd Day 15 hours in:

That's gotta be the tenth god damn loss in a row, why do i keep getting ******** team mates?! I haven't earned a single point in 5 hours!

3rd Day 20 hours in:

I designed 3 ******* mechs that I used on rotation and managed to get 13 points in 5 hours. Mission accomplished.

100 games played.

I played normally. Took me 62 matches to get 30 qualifying wins, set up two laser vomit stormcrows.

One match that didn't count, I had 6 kills 863 damage in a JR7F.....that was when I switched over to the crows.

I gave up caring when I got the premium time. Too much kill stealing, and my Elo/MM bracket produces rolls one way or another 80% of the time. But, I did the math.

Games - 79
Wins - 41
Losses - 38
Qualified - 20

So, less than half my wins. Now consider the new/casual player who really wanted/needed to get that extra mech in their inventory but couldn't devote a lot of time for the grind. Think they got it? Think they are happy with this tourny?

You mean Kill secured :P

And no, those challenges are not there for new players (heck, that game has nothing designed for new players). The random gift challenge are a lot more accessible, but I think harder challenges are nice now and then too. It is not for everyone, that's for sure.

66 games, which was ahead of my a predicted 72 games based off of previous performance. However I also narrowed my mech selection to chassis I typically do well in, primarily Wolverines and Blackjacks.

The biggest factor for me was population, Friday night was miserable, so many games were I put up big numbers but failed to carry a victory more often than not. While Saturday, my performance leveled off as more allies and enemies were within my Elo bracket. Games were much more fun, and I won a lot more despite not putting up big numbers.
Even though I finished the challenge Saturday, I played a few games Sunday just to test the waters. Again, games were pretty janky, although I am not sure if that is an actual trend or a symptom of the Playoffs.

Things looked good, then patch loop bug killed the Space Pope's chances.

Matches were pretty mixed in quality, although, the Space Pope did have fun running into some pretty bad 10 man's trying to pug stomp.

It's interesting to see how some groups have stagnated in skill and tactics (although of course there are some really amazing units still out there that are a blast to play against).

On my main account:
Played a total of 66 games, 38 wins, 83 kills, 41 deaths, 32 total points (got the 30th on game 61). In the process I finished Master level on my Stormcrows, Elite on three Victors, either basics or just saving up XP on Orion K/Protector/Ilya/loyalty King Crab/and of course, my new CTF-3D(C). Also explored the meta TDR's for the first time (I mastered TDR's before quirks) and played a bunch of fun games in my Ember and Sarah's Jenner.

On my secondary account:
39 games 12 points. Played Firestarters, Raven 3L, TDR 9S and 5S, Centurion 9-A(C), and my Atlas DDC. Got fed up with horrid teamwork too many times in a row, especially PUG's completely ignoring the main enemy force even when I typed it to them in chat. Too much SQUIRREL!, too little brain.

On my third account:
One ludicrous game in a Firestarter to get my premium time for the next couple days. Got one kill, so next mech I was facing I went for side torso to strip it not kill it; turns out that Awesome had an XL. At 2 kills, I figure I really need to share so I start aiming for arms and legs to disable without killing. I aimed for a still-armored leg on a light and (BOOM) my shot hit right after someone else's alpha took out the other leg and stripped the one I was aiming at. 3 kills now, and the enemy is attacking our base, so I rtb ASAP at 150kph to find a Cataphract standing still facing away from me shooting at a base turret while a couple more enemies are brawling with my lancemates. No time to waste and I'm not going to pass up the opportunity with no friendlies nearby, so it's 1-2 with lasers to the back; 4 kills. Moving into a furball with the 4-5 enemies that are left and an accidental snapshot CT'd another light. Got the Johnny Five achievement and 3 days premium time, but I honestly felt kind of bad about it.

61 Games, 32 Wins.

Mostly used my LCT-PB, FS9-E/H/S(each has at least 1 Flamer :D ) and some SHD-GD, KFX, CPLT-C4/K2, CDA-3M/3C, and KGC-000.

Was a bit rough last night, but considering I skipped MWO entirely on Friday, I suppose it wasn't too bad.

Positive effects:
+Free Stuff!
+People aim to win much much more!
+People FOCUS TARGETS!
+People group up and listen to orders!
+Some people pulled off hardcore wins (i.e. 9 down with only 2 on their side that have fallen, still pulled off the win with kills in my Jenner, and two other Firestarters!)
+I mastered my Jenner, and I also pulled off multiple 1000+ damage games!
Negative effects:
-Chase the freaking squirrel!
-People raged harder (and I admit it was a bit frustrating after multiple games).
-CW matches were almost never able to access as most were scared of losing (or winning but not getting any kills <_<).
-People were still a bit conservative and worried on getting killed (of course its good to not lose all your health but it's not good to slow everyone down on the way to the center of terra, etc).
-People were on the other hand, suiciding before the first minute trying to get a kill and shoot one other then leaving.

Overall, a good challenge, but needs some other things besides straight grinding. :)

I liked it better than the Victor challenge but still fell short with only 20 pts. While I had some good groups who looked out for one another so everyone got kills, for the most part the games were along these lines:
People wanted so much to get a kill the were hopping in front of teammates. There was a lot of friendly fire.
Near the end people were really griping about Lights kill stealing. This does not bother me as finishing off a foe is what lights do! lol
People were so focused on kills they forgot t WIN! It got to the point my buddy and dropped the Conquest selection.
After I got my kill I tried to focus on legging and taking out hardpoints. Sadly not everyone played the same.

In conclusion the groups turned into a group of PIRANHAS!

The leaderboard challenges are not for new players. This is perfect type of challenge for new player to earn an extra mech.

If it was done right...

Finished the Challenge in 63 games. Had 32 games where my team lost the match. 18 matches where I did not score a kill. 5 matches where I did not score an assist. I got to experience 3 long runs of losses a 4, a 5, and a 6. Those streaks were followed by more qualifying matches after the MM got to even out my W/L percentage. All of my matches were in the solo queue except for the 6 CW drops.

Ran mostly Cents and my Founders Atlas. Working on getting a million exp sitting on my Cents at the moment so I was grinding them out. The Wang did real well as did the AH and (F)atlas, AC 20 secures kills like a beast. If you were on my team, I am sorry that I didnt share kills because winning the match was more important to me.

Those long running streaks of bad games make the game really unfun. Putting a team of albatrosses around someones neck and expecting them to carry all that dead weight can be frustrating. Definitely rough expecting me to do it in a light or a medium because the MM forces you into longer wait times with those easier to carry heavies and assaults.

At least I felt rewarded for finishing the Challenge. What was the mech bay, mech and premium time worth? Around 20 bucks or so? Not a bad reward at all. :D

I can't tell you how many matches I finished with 6-7+ assists but no kills. As a new player I need all the mechs/c-bills I can get. This was the first time I've really played this game heavily and it definitely left a mixed taste in my mouth.

# puglife.

Its a different game with a group that knows what they are doing, but trying to herd by typing when fighting......hell no, its near impossible.

I really hate that kill requirement, makes players (including me) resort to some terrible tactics in an attempt to secure kills.

In the beginning I was playing some non-FLD load outs and it felt horrible when we would win and I didn't score a kill. Thought to myself "what am I doing" and switched to some hyper alpha insta damage loadouts. Found myself actively not shooting in matches fishing for a stripped armor mech, completely ignoring anything else, smashing override and pumping excessive alpha strikes into that mech.

Eventually I resorted to loading LBX AC-20 and as many pulse lasers as I can (clan mech). When an enemy mech got low I would literally face hug the enemy mech and actively try to position my mech between the low target and allies to body block ally fire. After several rounds of this (most of which were successful), thought again "what am I doing", felt horrible about the game, and just stopped player all together.

I really couldn't bring myself to grind out 30+ matches of that. I already had bad feelings of the game after 7.
