Question is why would you want to play against bots when you can play against other people?

Simply put we're not all going to be as good as other players. Sure we all strive to get better but it's not going to be fun for either of us if one is just a 10x the player of the other guy. Not to mention difference in our pcs, internet bandwidth, etc.

I'd argue that building an effective AI may be easier than a solid working match making system.

Then there is also the occasional desire to pal around with some of my friends and just beat up on bots. Some of us put in 20-30 hours of game time while others only play one night a week or a few hours.

With regards to the cbills for facing off against bots, it's simple their rewards could simply be smaller than what you get from facing human foes.

I could see PvE as a training ground for new players to learn how to pilot their mechs, and vs the Clans, or perhaps as "support" units where your team might get some air support or tanks which are AI controlled (though following a commanders orders). Otherwise, don't corrupt a PvP game which too much lame PvE stuff.

be nice if it at least had a getting to know your mech tutorial you could go through and learn how to use the things controls before jumping into a match. i'd like to be able to put down a few notes about controls without fellow teammates saying i was afk lol

which means if they try for both a solid working match making system and a good AI they may run out of time and resources to bring them up to the level people would want.

MWO will not continue to Grow with just PvP alone...

There is alot of competition out there for games like this... Look at World of Tanks, it is only growing bigger and bigger each year, and they now have 3 Products in the works.. World of Planes, World of Battleships and their World of Tanks... and im sure they will soon have their own ideas for a Mech Sci-fi game as well... There is always Questions and Talk about when can we see a Mech Based Game from WG-Net?? so just wait and see what WG will do once they see how Successful MWO will be

WG will be looking out for Competition to Squash or Tempt Customers away for their own Product, and they will be interested in making $$$ where others have Failed or Will Fail compared to their Products and Fame...

MWO has a Great Advantage... it is a Mechwarrior Brand, and there are Loyal Fans and Players like me to the BT/MW Universe that have been waiting for this game for 20 years or more... MWO has great Potential and a good head Start, and to keep ahead of the competition they will need to adapt to new and old ideas, and one is PvE, there is just simply an unlimited amount of content they can add for MWO to keep players interested, and this can also include a mix of PvP and PvE if need be

Not everyone is into PvP, and to include PvE into a game like Mechwarrior, it would gather up that Sif-Fi PvE crowd and MWO would benefit greatly from that...

Mechwarrior Online will need PvE at some point, the BT/MW universe and History is just too massive not to have PvE.... there is a Crap Ton of Content that could be added to MWO via PvE content, and if you think about it there are what ? thousands of Planets on the Map each with unlimited possibilities to Explore and Missions for these Planets to unfold over time...

There is a Place for both PvP and PvE to live together here in MWO, so just to say NO to PvE is Foolish at best... and would Harm MWOs Progress

MWO has a Great potential for a Game that could be one of the greatest we have ever seen so far... and to Combine both PvE and PvP MWO has a great chance to pick up both Audiences from Several different areas... a few for example, Flight Sim Fans, Tank Sim Fans, Mech Sim Fans and that can only mean a Richer and more Diverse Community of Gamers...

PvP will have House Warfare, can be no doubt about that... with battles possibly everyday over god knows how many hundred Planets, and this would be a great place to add PvE content as well...

once the Clans invade this will also open up new opportunities, for both PvE and PvP, To be Truly successful where others have never been before, MWO would have to cater for most Gaming Types of different areas and thats where the BT/MW Universe comes in, it pretty much covers everything Sci-Fi Gamers have ever wanted

But will take time, and the first step and probably the most important step is to gather up the PvP Crowd, Player vs Player competition seems to be where most of the demand is these days, but it would be a great mistake to leave the PvE Crowd behind in the long run

just my 2 C-Bills, as they say

I would be cool with them adding pve infantry, tanks, and aerospace assets to the game. Allow both sides in a given match to spend some resources to give them a minor bit of support in the scenario driven campaigns.

I don't think you will find many people wanting to play infantry, but infantry could have a role in scenarios involving urban battles. the npc infantry could make attacks to cripple legs and launch man portable SRMs. Would definitely add to the game, but not a big deal if it doesnt happen or takes a long time to develop.
