All K means is that is is unlocked to allow overclocking, otherwise it is the same as non K.

Dont bother going down the overclocking path unless a computer modding enthusiast, it is cheaper to just buy the faster CPU to begin with because decent overclock hardware costs more.
You literally have to apply "double heatsink" to your computer with monster heatsinks.

Which is fun if into that, but for the general person wanting a computer which they just use then its not a worthwhile path to take.

This game is years behind the current game technology and it doesnt take much to run it.
$150 GPU, midrange CPU and its going to be sweet for 60fps 90% of the time. A modern computer deserves 8G ram and an SSD too, dont cripple it with less.
Also spend $30 (or more) on a gaming mouse if not using one already. The extra buttons are a huge help in this game and features like DPI cycle really help with the games oversensitive advanced zoom.

Doesnt take that much to run it>?????? LMAO share the peyote, we all want to trip that hard too...................
LOL on Vhigh settings you need 6/12 intel X99 cores @ 4.3 with custom user cfg work and various tweaks and or graphics settings lowered like particles and shaders......and post processing.......... just to avoid dips below 55FPS when inside the belly of the brawl/

This PSU should give you all the power you would ever need, it should be able to allow you to SLI down the road if you change your mind: http://pcpartpicker....ly-platinum1000

if that's too much: http://pcpartpicker....stpd0850mpcgus1

and yeah, if you can afford it, i'd say go i7 Hexacore, X99 & DDR4 For Future Proofing & MWO, you have a Intel Extreme Chip, why not stay on the Extreme Path?

Current build - Maximum PC September Turbo Build. Newegg was running a special on the parts before Christmas. Came in right at $2000. Runs everything I can throw at cranked up with no hiccups, even MWO, and I haven't started oc'ing anything yet. Warning - Case is friggin huge.

Case NZXT Phantom 530
PSU XFX P1-1050-BEFX, 1050 watts
Mobo Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD5H
CPU Intel Core i7-4790K
Cooler NZXT Kraken X61
GPU 2x SAPPHIRE TRI-X OC Radeon R9 290
RAM 4x 4GB G.SKILL Ripjaws F3-12800CL9Q-16GBRL
Optical Drive LG WH14NS40 Blu-ray Burner
SSD Samsung 840 Evo 500GB MZ-7TE500BW
HDD Seagate Barracuda 3TB ST3000DM001

I run the Kraken fans in Silent mode and the Trixx software usually only ups the fans on the GPU's to 30% while playing MWO for a long time.... extremely quite.

Isn't DDR4 apart from being extremely expensive, also still pretty hard to get hold of from what I've heard? Honestly I don't see much reason to go pick up DDR4. Future proofing is nice, but it's not really a concern for me. Right now I'll just settle for a build that can comfortably get high fps in MWO with decently high settings. As far as over clocking goes, I've no experience with it so I'll avoid it where I can. Although I imagine I will have to take the plunge some time.

yes...

lets get realistic here you want to spend around 1000 bucks... go for a 4690k a z97 mobo and really no need for more then 8g RAM, get a nice cooler (phanteks tc12dx works awesome for me) and put the rest of your cash into a nice gpu.
