Well maybe Mom and Dad sitting at the dinner and watching their children eating - and Hanse said to Melissa.
"Hey sweet heart - i know i shouldn't have married you while were a minor teen, and I excuse myself. Look your daugther is a ***** and my son is a idiot. Its obvious that they will screw our heritage - better we divorce"

You say that like it hasn't happened in stories through out forever!
But I do like the spin you gave it. Its pretty on point! I have many times on CBT forums said She should have been given teh thrown and Vic the sword (ie the military).

maybe - maybe not - born 3010 - marriage august 28..... and the birth year was settled after the "marriage was canon".
so it depends on the message - and because i despise both the Davion and Steiner family - she was obvious not adult.

The treaty was signed in 3022, making her 12.

That said, she certainly wouldn't be the youngest person in Battletech history that was promised to marry somebody by their parents for political reasons. Considering Battletech was supposed to have a middle ages feel to it from the start, that sort of thing was pretty common.

Could we find the consence that there children were still a pain - and it would have been better to sterilize both of them.
Last not least most successor lords seem to be political correct, almost no illegitimate children nor romantic affairs.
All the time pure and true love.

For all his faults... I liked Vic.

Should be noted that Twilight of the Clans was the last FASA books Stackpole wrote in the BT universe for a long, long time.
Given that he wrote the BT spine novels it was great stuff.
The one biggest issue I have had with BT Lore was the whole "reset the world without actually resetting it" read Dark Ages.
Pretty similar to how the IS was at the time of the end of the First SW.
I always found the sudden revelation that Kat was a megalomaniac to be a bit hard to stomach.
I am a storyteller by trade and there was no build up to it. No background. Just one day she decides to off her mom after her dad has a heart attack.
Keeping in mind that the rest of her siblings were sane. It takes a whole lot of crazy to blow your own mom up.
And that is my biggest issue with the FASA years, the major Retcons and hey character x with no real reason or background motivation does crappy thing y so we can have the whole IS at each others throats again now that the Clans have been beaten.
Mind you if the FedCom Civil War had made any sense what so ever from plot view I could get behind it.
Read through most of the books and poked around in other places and there was ZERO build up to one of the biggest shifts in the IS.
The whole thing smacks of the now famous "One More Day" story line in Spiderman. This is AFTER JMS of B5 fame wrote one of the most emotional stories where just before she dies Peter tells Aunt May everything.
And now because a Marvel exe didn't like Peter being married. Bam one of the best character building moments retconned.
Tis why I lost interest in the lore and books with the coming of the Clans. While awesome individual stories the great story was filled with wholes big enough you could put a fleet of jumpships through.

The FedCom had to kill itself because at the time nobody else would or could.

Heck I always thought having Ryan Stiener actually succeed would have made more sense. Skye breaking away at last and the FedCom falling apart due to that would have been more realistic to the dynamics they had setup.
Or at least hint at Kat being a power hungry nutjob somewhere!
