Which R, are you feeling.

Relief, or regret?

Well when I can figure out where my shoulders keep disappearing to, I'll let ya know.

Is there a hitbox pass coming down the road for this thing?
LOL?

Didn't it already have one?

Look on the bright side; 60% damage resistance to the CT.

I tried it to build it in smurfy mechlab. (Although i only play Atlai, i do regulary try to outfit other mechs for fun in smurfy)

To have a nice variety on all ranges. Not laser or LRM vomit.

Pretty hard to build, or is it just me?

The Mad Dog is alright. Maybe the CT could be a tiny bit bigger, but most people aim at the CT on clan mechs due to their Clan XL engines. So it's a bit dangerous. It's a fine balance. Nothing sucks more than a Clan mech with a big CT. Especially a 60 ton clan mech with limited armour and no more speed than the 75 ton Timber Wolf.

I feel like the Vulture is pretty much where I want it to be. It has a lot of firepower for its size, but it's fragile. That seems about right.

It runs hot, with anything but LRM5 spam.

I remember Russ posting up some screenshots of the Maddog's hitboxes..
Way too much surface area, literally aim anywhere and you're chopping off a torso like nothing.

Its like Reverse Dragon mode..
Except way more sluggish.

Get into a fight, and its Torso gone, Torso gone, dead.. lol

If not laser or LRM vomit, what else? Ballistics are kind of out, even with the new variant giving it one on each arm. They are just too heavy to make sense on this 60 tonner.

What I've seen the Mad Dog do well is 4xML, TAG, CAP, 2xLRM15+A and 2000+ LRMs. It's a fast and effective LRM boat, a little more suited to it than the Stormcrow.

I love this mech...

Use these builds: Using these, it made for some ownage... across all 3 builds... Great mech, remember to armor up first! (Just like the Hellbringer, armor up FIRST!)

I love my Mad Dogs but you need to play them like a heavy medium(support), if you try and tank you will be dead in a hurry! I agree with Creovex first thing to do with these is to armour up if you run at all less than max do it on the legs and a few points off the head, seems these mechs are taken out CT & ST's more than anything else. I run a build with LBX5, CERML, and 6 SRM4's that is fun, you can make someone back up fast with that one. 4 SRM's on chainfire!

Having gotten it for buying both Clan packs, and running the daylights out of mine, till I got my Hellbringers, these are the two builds I use most often:

Long range chain fire support:

MDD-PRIME

LRM 5's are on chain fire, group 1, TAG is group two, and cML is group fire on 3

Close in support:

MDD-PRIME

SRM 6's are on chain group 1 cMLS are on group fire 2.

The close in support unit has killed KGC's in close quaters.

The thing about Mad Dogs, is that in stock, they are almost as under-armoured as a Hellbringer, the other thing about them, is chose a side, you are going to lose that side, once it's gone, use it as a 50% damage sheild for your CT.

What I do is, run till one side turns core orange, then swtich sides, presenting a nearly fresh side for them to chew through, use the Mad Dog's rather quick twisting speed and good range of motion to your advantage.

I love my Mad Dog. Am really tempted by the Bravo chassis, because, extra ballistic arm. I have plans. But that would eat into my Summoner time.

Decisions, decisions..........

My favourite Mad Dog builds:

MDD-Prime: 4 ERML, 2xLRM20
MDD-A: 4 ML, 6SRM4
MDD-B: UAC20, 2ML, 2LRM15

The UAC20 is hard to use against moving targets, but a lot of people panic real fast when you double tap and they take 40 dmg from 10 rounds in a few seconds. It really sucks against light mechs though.

Mad Dog does LRMs and Lasers best like the stock prime. Anything else it's the wrong mech. Maybe a SRM brawler, but it won't last long. As far as the Lore abilities of the mech, it's pretty accurate. Not a brawler.

Do you and I by chance 1v1 each other on Bog? I was in a TBR with LRMs. I honestly thought I was going to take more damage than what I took.

yeah it was probably me.

Been running 2xMPL + 3xSL + 2xSRM6 + 4xLRM5.

You and 2 kingcrabs trying to make your way up that big hill on the right, and me and a beat up teamate came charging down that hill, your torso's were all red, I got one of them and overheated then the crabs walked in and dakka dakka'd me?

Mad Dog is very good missile / laser boat. It is just 5 tons heavier then e.g. Griffins but support a lot more firepower + Clan-XL survivability. The only downside are the narrow arms that not going to tank a lot damage.

Mad Dog with tanking arms would be next to Timber wolf.

The above builds gimps the Mad Dog alot.

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...7e9e712678fdadf

Its like a Griffin 2.0.

Played like a medium I think it can be quite dangerous.

Another good loudout would I think this:

I would say the safest build would be an LRM boat and stay hidden so you don't have to worry about getting shot.

If the Gargoyle-Prime was any indication.... I'm pretty sure I know what that means...

Anyways, I took a look over the tonnage after max armor for omnipods...

~15.5 tons for the Nova
~23 tons for the Stormcrow (magical - due to Endo+FF despite large engine)
~23.5 tons for the Hellbringer
~21 tons for the Summoner
~27.5 tons for the Timberwolf (based on the Prime)
~20 tons for the Gargoyle

~26 tons for the Maddog

For the labrat/minmaxer in me... that is actually kinda ridiculous and it's not even benefiting from Endo.

However, it is somewhat fragile... so... I'll have to be a bit more creative in this process.

Try building with a shield side, you can do 3 missiles & 3 energy on the right side of the mech.

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...f2a39d18065280b

Or one of these, which will not run too hot.

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...2e0545f4f721f7e

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...d749d2a05daa9c0

Just some ideas.

I slapped two of those together and they need more optimization, the LB20 version credit goes to GMan.
