How good is the MDD at ridge peeking? That high cockpit must mean it can do minimal exposure, no?

Yeah, but only its missile mounts are mounted high on the body, its arm energy/ballistic slots are waist level.

Mine is twin UAC10 and 6 tons of ammo.
I like it a lot, simple and effective.

The arms are not mounted low though. They are higher than the other clan heavies/mediums.

Add a TC1, it will speed up your bullets, and give you a higher crit chance. Trust me, its worth it.

I sort of regret it sometimes. I feel like the Maddog comes apart easier than my Nova...I don't think anyone will agrue how the nova cannot take a beating. This is not a front line mech by any means. The side Torso's are just too fragile. Got to stay behind fatties and back them up. If those guys aren't doing their job, yours gets a lot harder.

That said the problem I've been having in game with my Mad dogs is that players usually rush into a brawl, ridge peeking, corner peeking all that stuff. In this mech I want as much real estate between me and the enemy. This is the last mech out of all the chassis I own that I want to be deathballin with.

No one runs ECM counters so I usually have to do that myself. The cockpit may be high, but the energy hardpoints are a bit low in the arms. So if you want to TAG an enemy to break though enemy ECM / use your lasers you have to expose more of your mech. And it does't take much for those Side torsos to be liberated from your Machine.

Thanks for the tip, modifying right away.
I never tried TC in MWO, dunno why.

Well just think, if it had a bigger CT it would die even faster. It would have been the next Dragon.

If it had a bigger CT hitbox, twisting in it would actually be rewarding.

Those torso's are just too far spread over the CT sides, so twisting just trades one easily hit torso for the other, even if you put 40/40 split on your CT armor, your torso's will still be the first thing crit.

use this for your, not against you, frontal facetankign with s slight turn in makes both side and Ct rather slim and speards better than turning in.

once you lost an entire Sidetorso, you can use that side as a very well working shield, because your opponent will not hit the CT, an so damage gets shielded by the way how damage transfer works. thats a strenghts, not only a weakness, but its a but counterintuitive to other mechs because they don't have this ability to that degree.

People used to complain about a huge CT, now it's complaining about huge STs? It's not even like you have the dreaded IS XL engine to worry about. I can't see how the maddog is supposed to be so terrible when a lot of 55 ton IS mechs have literally everything in a single side. It is possible to run an assymetrical maddog build using SRMs for brawling and say a ballistic. A small center torso is a good thing, once your zombie side is dead you now have a great damage shield to lower damage to your CT through transference. If the opposite torso is getting hit when you're turning to avoid getting it hit you aren't turning your torso to a correct angle to the enemy. There is also nothing stopping you from letting enemies shoot your CT if you're worried about a side with your weapons by facing them directly. If you expose the CT and give people a perfect shot the majority WILL take it.

TLDR: Play it like a medium and not like a heavy, you're only 5 tons higher than a medium people.

Which R, are you feeling.

Relief, or regret?

Well when I can figure out where my shoulders keep disappearing to, I'll let ya know.

Is there a hitbox pass coming down the road for this thing?
LOL?

The Mad Dog variant you bought has lowered armor to be able to carry the weapon loadout it does. I'd recommend changing your loadout and upping the armor or adjusting your play style and running it as a second line fire support (which its meant to be).

Just couldn't handle the terrible hitboxes any longer.
Maybe it will be worth a revisit down the road, just got tired of having to use it as a cowardly LRM boat, or get insta smashed in any kind of brawl.

Don't play them as much now. Long road to get them them mastered for that model me slot. I won't sell them though and I'll still run them for the novelty as they are such an iconic chassis. I just find it funny that when I look at my stats, my flimsy good for nothing novas are all well above a 3-1 kdr even though I'll be one of the first to bash the novas is into the ground. My MDDs by comparison aren't having much luck keeping 1-1. If sigma lead was running on of these MDDs back in the courtyard in the mw4 intro, that final stand would hav been over in 2 seconds flat.
