I know the idea of blacklisting maps is unpopular, but the last thing I think people on both sides want is for a lance of 4 urbanmechs to be dropping on a map like Alpine Peaks or even the Desert map going at most 54kph with AC20s.

That is unless it's a 12v12 urbanmech fest on alpine peaks.

Yes I guess you could equip it with (at most) 2 Ac2s but are you really going to do that to urbie?

It wouldn't make any sense for Urbanmech players to drop on a map that the mech clearly has no chance in (unless you are the Capellan's).

So could we agree that the Urbanmech should at least have the choice to not deploy on maps it will be inevitably bad at?

No this isn't like how assault mechs do in Alpine Peaks. It's that there is no way in hell that any Urbanmech build will be anything but a liability on those two maps.

No one is forcing anyone to play an Urban Mech nor are the forcing a team to leave a narrow place with good cover that the Urban mech would work in to go stand in an open plain and get shot while trudging slowly up a hill.... For some reason they feel the need to do that, but no one is forcing them.

Lets wait to see what the engine cap is. If we seriously get a 100KPH Urbanmech like Russ was joking around about then I wouldn't mind playing it on Alpine. Tourmaline actually has some pretty good close quarters areas too, no reason to knock it out of that one.

I would however love to see a real urban style map, like a combination of River City and Mech Factory all rolled into one with a big sprawling close quarters city, maybe a park area to break it up somewhere, and an industrial area, factory like area somewhere in it maybe. (like the portion of river city opposite citadel, but on a bigger map.)

I'd love to see a large urban map similar to the opening of MechWarrior 3. Destroyed buildings with lots of tight spaces and cover.

Why ban some maps? Is a lance of urbanmechs dropping on any map a good idea in normal game mode? If they are even remotely close to cannon these mechs are going to suck hard! A lance of them will mean a loss for that team on any map.

If they are close to cannon, they are going to lay the hurt on you, if they get the drop on you, the UM-R60L packs a big freaking gun in that AC-20 on a light mech...

How many "I don't want any Urbanmechs on my team!" threads do you plan to start today?

Give the urbie's some cover!
It makes it kind of fun, like a game of "keep the ball away from [the enemy]".

:D

You can't have statements like "Urbanmechs Everywhere" if they don't appear on all maps.

So... it's either Urbies Everywhere or bust.

Oh no, there will be none of that. If I cannot pick the mech I want to drop specific maps with, then you have to drop in your waste of development time on whatever map comes up.

Can someone draw a picture of an Atlas in a cheap tux, refusing entry to Club Alpine to a dejected Urbanmech. In the club Catapults and Jagers can be seen dancing.

No the pilots lifetime is limited and so an urbie will not arrive at mordor ever.
