With the advent of shutdown override being fixed to the way it should be, I would like to propose one or more changes to the flamer, a long-useless weapon rendered that way out of fear of stun-locks. Override being a permanent toggle means that even if flamers COULD heat a mech to 100% or higher, they would not necessarily incapacitate it. Therefore, I would like to propose one or more buffs to flamers to make them something actually worth trading a medium laser for.

One idea is to prevent them from overheating your mech so easily by removing the weird curve that flamers have where they add extra heat the longer you use them.

Another thought is to allow them to heat enemies over 100%, making them choose between shutdown and heat damage.

Or, yet another idea is to improve their damage to something similar to machine guns.

I feel like at least two improvements to flamers will be required to make them competitive weapons, and I prefer the first and third of my ideas because I suspect that the heat damage incurred by your mech due to overheating may be actually rather overpowered at the moment. I know it is very possible to cook yourself, and I suspect that ammo explosions might be a thing as well, and the ability to explode components through armor if you can find a target already running hot may swing the pendulum the other way and make flamers overpowered.

Consequently, I suggest removing the heat scaling for maintaining fire with flamers and improving damage, if not to be equivalent to machine guns, at least to be competitive with them.

Flamers should definitely be able to over heat mechs. I wouldn't care if they did no damage. Flamers would actually have tactical use if say we loaded a jenner with 6 of them to go in and shut down mechs while the team pummeled away at them. Flamers in previous games always had the ability to overheat mechs, and it definitely have that feature in this game. Obviously it can't be OP like 1 flamer making you overheat, so if you were going to just try to overheat mechs, you'd have to take a jenner or something with a bunch of them. But having 1 or 2 flamers should still increase a mechs heat to the point where they cannot fire as much or they risk overheating.

Back in previous games, they could do 100%.
I wish they would right now since damage is so low off a flamer, would get rid of the mg pipsqueaks.
But realistically, just buff damage and range, and it would be fine.
