These resistance pack skins are way too busy, the skins have all this text on them and are inconsistent with lore and the previously released clan faction skins

Mechs are warmachines not NASCAR!

No. The text adds flavor. IS mechs were notorious for outlandish paint schemes from their merc pilots. Also parade camo was common for planetary garrison.

Because phrases, like "Eat this!", are commonly seen in Nascar...

You do realize that this style of camo is based upon real-world military equipment, right? Ever seen the art on a WWII-era bomber?

The only difference here is the colors, and that's because they're done to match their factions. Don't play for a faction with colors and paint schemes you don't like, I guess?

thats fine, thats "decal" its added afterwards, but not on the standard issue Faction skins.
you won't see a 12 man with "Nine O Nine" or swastikas or "eat me" all on them on the same spot, like you will with these skins when they go live.

These are literally selling you "customization" but without letting people customize. Everybody will have the exact same customized mech. Its like designer jeans.

No army is going to issue "designer uniform" to its soldiers.

actually, Battletech Mechs are analogous with WWII Tanks and Airplanes, for the most part

It would be cool to see a system that lets you add text on to the mechs.

But this designer camo shouldn't be on faction skins anymore than designer jeans in a military uniform

Yeah, I get what you're saying. But since we'll probably never get decals with the level of customization we want, I guess it's a good compromise for people who want that look and would otherwise be unable to get it. I mean, I'm predicting every mech will have something like 3 or 4 standard decal slots or something to that effect.

And to be fair, I was pretty bummed out to find out that the faction skins aren't even based on proper units from lore. I don't even read BT novels or play TT, but I'd still like to see them being faithful to the lore. So... not exactly standard issue, in that sense. Even though they're standard issue in this game.

I think they went the wrong way with faction skins, really. Other than the Clan Ghost Bear ones, I hardly ever see any Clan mechs with faction skins. I've seen Smoke Jags and Jade Falcon a handful of times. Clan Wolf camo I've only ever seen once in-game.

Maybe PGI should start making money by having McDonalds theme camo? Give it out for free to us and then PGI can make money from McDonalds? Sounds absurd but it doesnt have to be just McDonalds...

could be SEARS, Walmart,ect.... or some Canadian Company (Rona Home and Garden for example, ect)

Well, in the original b Tech fiction and game they did not really have friend or foe identification. Not sure that ground radar on mechs was even a thing like it was in the computer games. The original thinking was that kinda like WWI biplanes that were painted colors for identification, mechs were unit colors so you knew who not to shoot at.

Back in MW4 when running radar off the color of the mech was useful to tell friend from foe.

Not a issue in MWO as you get IFF built in to all mechs.

PS: I would probably run a Dr Pepper cammo paint if it was available. Just not in CW - I do have some RP standards.

Painting an WWII airplane or tank like the NASCAR cars would just say "Shoot Me Please". Nose art was for morale and Prop spinners/tail fin/wing tips/turret top marker were only for unit designation or friend/foe identification. They WERE NEVER massive billboards of advertisements. If someone wants to add taunts like "Eat Me" lets keep it to a personal basic with your OWN decals on your OWN mechs.

You know what? the heavy metal mech... the pink one... is actually lore.

And so are many many others, painted like some 5 year old found some crayons. It is what it is, and if we could, we'd add hats to them.

I would be 100% okay (as a Clan affiliated player) for PGI to include a twin-skin for the IS factions, one with text and one without to appease both crowds.

Well, not the swastikas, but when Decals and Logos are in game you may very well see "Eat Me".

I dont know, I could be wrong, but I think the skins depicted are the HERO skins...
Like the Grid Iron and Boars Head, there is writing, but the non Hero Variant may not have the text....

Then again, they are using a King Crab for the Pic and we sorta have a 'special camo' Crab in the 'free one' we received...

I could be wrong

This just goes to show, that you can find anyone to complain about anything ...

I mean you will be under no, zero, zip, zilch, Nada obligation to use the skin(s).... I do not have to use them on my wave 2 mechs, I chose to.

I can see how this might be an issue when they give LP bonuses to people who use faction skins
