The corridors are getting weird. Something I think would be more fun is being able to attack any system along a shared border. Suddenly, if you push a narrow finger into enemy territory (don't make this dirty), you can easily get cut off and isolated. You can make distraction attacks. You have to garrison units for counterattacks and defense.

This, to me, makes a lot more sense than "you share an entire border with this other power. You can attack this one world. That's it. hahahahaaha - sucka." There's no tactics, no strategy: you're just dropping on the only place available.

I'm pretty sure the counter-argument on this is: "BUT SMALLER POWERS WON'T BE ABLE TO MATCH NUMBERS LOL!!!1!111!!11eleventyoneone!!" Which means more ghost drops, probably, which is a valid concern.

In this design, rather than having a jumpship that apparently can instantly teleport to any trouble spot in your territory, you would have garrisons on specific planets. This would reward players with a lot of mechs, as they could spread them across their chosen power, but it would also mean that you wouldn't see the constant Firestarter zerg rush, the 9S PPC rush, the Stormcrow rush, the...you get the idea.

You might see worlds of lower importance being guarded by what many regard as inferior mechs, mechs rarely seen in CW. Suddenly you could find a use for those mechs gathering dust in the corner of your mechbay, suddenly getting packages of mechs that don't fit the current meta makes sense.

Sure, have a "float lance" or "reinforcement lance" that can go one system in any direction from any world you have a mech or mechs on. Or maybe have it that you have to use a lance that's on a world, so if you go on attack, there might not be a garrison behind to defend the planet from a counterattack.

Suddenly mercenaries have a role that's more than just "hey - take some worlds for us."

I'm sure it wouldn't be fun to program that, but...when I was thinking about CW back in the long, long ago, that's what I thought it would be. Fighting over and over and over for Wazzan or Goat Path or whatever is kind of fun, but it's so limiting. I just wanted something more; strategy on a larger stage.

I think that is an idea for the future. I believe it was stated around the time CW launched that they are controlling the attack corridors to save on resources or something.

You must be patient, CW is only 1 month old.

Oh, totally - but I want these ideas on a burner now, while they're still developing, rather than when they've already settled on something. Especially having your extra mechs be garrison/defense mechs, I think would add a lot.

I'm so tired of piloting (and piloting against) the waves of FS-As, 9Ss, Timbers, and Crows. Over and over and over. You see something else, it's like spotting Sasquatch.

i always thought CW would involve more jumpships. Like you have a unit jumpship and within the velocity of that jumpship you can attack or defend. It would force units to plan carefully , and of course their will be NPC controlled jumpships for the non unit pugs. More cbills can of course buy you more jumpships

I don't know if it will work though, it was what i originally thought CW would have rather then WORMHOLE EXPRESS be on the other side of the galaxy in a second ships we have now
