I have two questions:
1) When the Clan invasion happens what will happen to FRR? I believe their nation pretty much gets whiped out being the Clan invasion route.

2) How will the Clan faction transition work? I don't want to play or build a reputation with any other type of faction. I only really want to play as a Clan faction so I plan on going lone wolf until then.

Making Clans PVE is a really stupid Idea, it's like doing all the inner sphere houses except kurita. If you're doing the timeline then they should be there and playable eventually. When that time comes one of those will be the faction I join.

I don't want to join the innersphere, I want to invade it.

The FRR doesn't get entirely subsumed by the clans, there's still a handful of planets left after the invasion reaches it's peak. And nobody knows how the clans are going to work, likely not even then devs themselves yet. It's very smart of them that they've given themselves at least a year to figure it out. Balancing clan tech vs IS tech is going to be a headache.

Correct answer is no one (outside of those involved in developing the game) really knows a thing about clan involvement in this game.

1.) Canonically, the FRR continues to exist, but goes from holding 80-some planets to less than 10.

2.) One of the Devs (Bryan Ekman - Creative Director, Head of Design and Vision) stated some time ago that the plan was (at that point, at least) that the Clans would be set up as Factions, similarly to the IS Houses, including the aspect where membership in certain prestigious units would be dependent on the accomplishment/completion of certain achievements/tasks.

And some of us disagree with the notion that having the Clans be PVE at first and later being made playable would be a bad thing... :)

EDIT: Found Bryan Ekman's statement on the matter:

Quote

Since Clans are Factions, and not player run (at launch), this would fall under the Faction Unit rules.

Players can earn the privilege to be a member by earning loyalty points and performing certain feats/actions.

Well, I'm a Merc as well, for now. I've joined a group of organised Mercs who are working as the Kell Hounds.

You should only join FRR if either/or:
a) You're happy being faced with collossal amounts of enemies very soon, and are a VERY GOOD pilot.
:) You're happy to defect to either of the two clans who invade the FRR during the Clan Invasion.
c) You're happy to join the Ghost Bears when the Dominion forms.

I can't see the whole thing going year by year, otherwise many of us would be dead by the time the Dominion arrives. I'm going to be in my late 30's/early 40's by the time the Clan Wolves-In-Exile form and establish themselves on Arc Royal, if it moves that slowly.

I assume you can opt to defect to the clans when they arrive...
