*only ever uses chainfire*

*still manages to overheat in front of every enemy he comes across*

There's a lesson to be learned here. =P

First one is the most obvious, if slightly counter-intuitive: don't use chainfire. You have four options:

1 - fire all four together and incur ghost heat (good for when you know you have time to cool off)
2 - fire three, then one (concentrates most of your damage into one solid volley, with an "aftershock")
3 - fire two, then two (two equally measured punches)
4 - always use chainfire (spreads your damage across many shots, requires facetime... not very effective)

I recommend sticking with option 2 or 3, according to personal taste. It's always better to fire as many weapons as you can at once in a concentrated burst (hopefully focusing the same component on a mech), and have the ability to turn away immediately to shield your vulnerable arm and slink to cover before loosing the next volley. It's nice to get into the habit of "shoot, maneuver actively until cooldown is up, repeat"

Chainfire is good for two situations and two situations only:

1 - applying cockpit shake to very slow and vulnerable targets like DWFs.
2 - when you are at the extreme top of your heat bar, you are away from cover, and you want to keep pressure on the enemy without overheating and shutting down.

The next lesson is: your lasers are, compared to your SRMs, extraordinarily heat inefficient. I've done substantial testing with medium lasers and SRM6s and ... I've come to this conclusion

- if you are in range to deal good damage with your SRMs, don't fire your lasers.
- if you are not in range to deal reliable damage with your SRMs, fire your lasers.

Sorry if any of this came off as snarky, but I hope maybe some of it helps. There's a lot of potential to unlock here. =]

Advice is good because I really suck with SRM, I have every IS medium you can build a splat build on, tried them and died pitifully.
I saw someone else pull off a crazy murder rampage with this build and thought, well never tried it with the Loup. It made sense somehow because how well I do brawling in the 7K and the tankiness of the Treb in general.

Well 1st match I pull, Mordor. I thought about running to the middle and typing insults to the enemy as they blasted me. Then I said nope Im just going to go balls out, heat be damned and well, there you have it.

So far I can't disprove it was all luck but with the nod to potential and the advice I may try again.
