this topic is for helping players who are thinking to buy a 9S, so if u dont own one ore want to debate if its OP and should be nerfed ore not go to 1 of the many other topics about that!

if u owne one and want to give advise to others (about how to play it ore if u recomend it and so on, than thats more then welcome)

my take on the 9 s, i was thinking, nice i need to buy it ... now i have it i bearly run it,

reasons,
- gost heat
- low alpha 30 (but practicaly if u want to fire at a acceptable rate 20+10)
- a weapon system that even with the quirks gives a bad damage for heat trade
- a low velosity thats makes doging at 600+ range easy
- nasty habit to hit the ridge ore corner if only a litle of the enemy mech is showing (gous rifles and lasers are way better at this)
- due to the above reasons it sucks as a brawler and is only a good sniper vs a awsome in the middel of a open plain...
- hot maps make your DPS ****
- its max DPS (with quirks cd module and a masterd mech) is 12.93...

the only reason i have not soled it yet, i do like to play a weapon system i almost never use from time to time...

ofcorce it has some positive points as well;
- the good quirks
- good placment of 3 of the torso hard points
- is one of the very few IS mechs that can run a viable ERPPC loadout
- no ammo, you can snipe all day and wont run out (i imagen this is handy for CW)
- its meta build can run nearly full armor and has a decent speed
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...f1f8511cd01be07

the best way to shoot is by putting 2 of the 3 ERPPC's in 1 groop, and on chainfire and the 3d one in the second groop (this way you will fire 2 and 0.5s later the 3d one without gost heat)

reason why i took the effort to write this, if u thinking i must buy this mech its so OP... dont you will be disapointed (wich i knew before i had spend the extra c bills on modules for its ERPPC and so on)
if you want a mech to play ERPPC with (but dont mind its not that good) then go ahead and get it..
(this opinion is for PUG games and not CW as i have never used it in there)

i hope this was of any help ;)

I'd get one; good heat, good damage, good weapon hardpoints.

More ST structure than some assault mechs. Live the low heat ERPPC meta all over again, on this specific chassis.

Easy to use.

If you get the 9S, don't expect it to be some super wonderful killing machine right out the door.

Once you get them mastered, they start to become pretty useful, but only if you have opportunity shots, and like playing the ranger.

Play their role, which is long range, and you do fine, but as soon as sombody closes the distance and gets you in a brawl, you're going to have a tough time, ERPPC spam or not, you're gonna get hurt quick.

I run essentially the same build (3 ERPPCs) but with a STD 275 and 5 external heatsinks (max armor except 57/57 on legs, use those arms as shields!).

Running 2 on one trigger and 1 on the other helps to control heat.

I also use zoom and seismic.

Plenty fast enough to keep up with the assaults, fun mech to play.

Lets see people playing this thing on videos. I am curious to see it in action, and not in game with it shooting me.

I like running mine with four ERPPCs. I know, I know, it's hot, but you can even alpha once, fire in pairs pretty well, and chainfire like crazy. You don't even need an XL if you can manage not going too fast. It might not be optimal, but it is fun as hell.

If you are good at aiming slower projectiles than ACs, get one. It's an amazing mech, good on basically every map, and has a place on every team. There's no reason NOT to get it (unless you're a jumpjet fanatic).

It is a good mech for solid DPS. If you can aim and hit your target. If your aim sucks, you're SOL.

It's a great mech that can put out a lot of long range damage IF you can keep it firing and hit targets. It's a terrible brawling mech. You'll get a couple of shots and then your dead. It also has all it's weapons in one location so it's pretty easy to neuter if someone gets close.

It's a good mech for CW, but for solo queue you're usually better off with a 4x LL or 4x ERLL build which also have good quirks and is a bit more versatile.

But it's also a great mech for perfecting your PPC accuracy as you can get fire off a ton of shots on chainfire. I prefer to use it at medium range, back up your assaults and constantly try to improve your aim against various types of targets.

Looks like your aim sucks.

Seriously. the quirks are a bit overdone. I've seen 5 ERPPC bolts running around... while clearly an idiot build, it shows how much people try to abuse the quirks.

Personally, I think 3PPC builds are too cheesy, but 2PCC 3 ML and some AMS is rock solid and you can fire those PPCs forever. Played some matches with it, only to see what all is about... and yes, this is OP.

You don't have to put 3 ER PPCs on the 9S just because you can. I ran mine like that for a while, but I switched back to 2 ER PPCs, 3 medium lasers and dual AMS. I can fire the 2 high mounted ER PPCs up next to the cockpit without exposing as much of my mech over a hill as I would need to do to fire a 3rd. I like the medium lasers to deal with lights that get up close and dual AMS really helps the team if the enemy has LRMs.

I liked the 9S before quirks and used standard PPCs up on the shoulder with 4 medium lasers and 2 machine guns. I'd still use it if they nerfed the quirks or took them away. Just because so many others are using 3 ER PPCs on it, that doesn't mean everyone has to. If you don't like that build, try it with just 2 before giving up on the 9S.

I agree. I run mine with 2xERPPC on the right torso and a Gauss Rifle on the left arm. Everybody expects you to spam PPC, so that Gauss is a very, very nasty surprise!
